FRANK SCHWAB: Another big trade in the NFL.
Less than a week after the Tennessee Titans moved
the number one pick to the Los Angeles Rams,
the Philadelphia Eagles move up to number two in a trade with
the Cleveland Browns.
It's a huge trade for both sides.
Let's start with the Eagles' side.
They gave up a ton.
And presumably, they're going to draft a quarterback there,
whoever the Rams don't take.
I get the strategy.
It's a little bit weird.
After they signed Sam Bradford and paid him $18 million
a year, after they signed Chase Daniel and gave him $7 million
a year, now they move up and are going to get a quarterback
at number two.
But in the NFL, you need a quarterback.
And if you don't have one, you need to do whatever you can
to get one.
They're throwing a bunch of numbers at the problem.
Hope one sticks.
It means that whoever they draft at number two is going to have
to play right away.
Maybe they're geniuses in all this,
but the Eagles are definitely investing in a quarterback,
hoping to find their franchise guy.
Now, for the Browns, it's hard to find fault with this move
for them.
They stock up on extra picks, move back to number eight,
where they still should get an elite player,
and they end up helping the depth of their roster this way.
I like the move for the Browns, because roll with RG3 this
season, if he works out great.
And if he doesn't, you're probably picking in the top few
next year.
You can take your quarterback then if you're the Cleveland
Browns.
