It creates a good foundation for a student because you're able to learn all the ins and out of that
particular field of study and so you're able to actually learn a lot more than what you
normally would in the A levels, put you on a path of where you feel you want to go. Through
the BTEC HND you're able to understand what exactly you like about that particular field
of study and where you want to progress in life.
A BTEC week would be three day class per week and we have, besides lectures, different activities,
debating, management games or some long discussions, analysing data, pop quizzes.
Students get the opportunity for some assessments they can go to a company, visit HR managers
there, get data and they can write their own report, so it develops student creativity,
as well as they can apply the theory whatever they have learned in the classroom to a practical
scenario which helps them to get the experience and exposure once they go to work in the industry
And in your assignments it's not just like exams. Exams you just learn your material
and then you test yourself on it, but assignments actually help you improve your research skills
and you learn more information, you come across them.
So it sort of helped me realise that the BTEC course is indeed a sort of necessity for us
to get into the field. And also it helped me to realise what sort of soft skills that
the industry is looking into, for example presentation skills, a good command in English,
good communication skills.
Well the nicest thing about BTEC is that the students are able to integrate into work-life
more effectively and get jobs more easily because they talk what is really done in real
life business. So as a result we find employability is better and our students fare comparably
better than non-BTEC students and I see that they have an edge when it comes to employment
which is the ultimate goal in learning.
