This is Scott Anderson with Grimes Teich Anderson and I am here to talk to you today about whether
you should hire a lawyer for your personal injury case. The first thing I would tell
you is, if you’ve got a serious case. Serious injury you should add a minimum consult with
an attorney. With our law firm it is a no fee for the initial consultation so that again
there is no downside for you to meet with us to talk about whether or not you need a
lawyer. The first question, really after we understand the facts of your case is what
can we do to improve your situation? That is a question you need to ask yourself and
that is a question you need to ask a potential attorney for you. How are you going to be
better off with the lawyer than without a lawyer? Our goal here is to put you in a better
position than you would otherwise be without the lawyer. Statistically recoveries are better
with an experienced injury attorney on your side. The next thing you need to consider
is how long is it going to take, and that is one unless we sit down with you and understand
the facts of your case, we really can't tell you, nobody can tell you. People want to know
what is my case worth? Until we review your case and understand it, we are not in a position
to tell you what is fair on your case, but our goal is after we have all the information
to tell you what is fair and to set some reasonable goals for recovery for you. The last thing
you will need to consider in any conversation with any attorney that is how slow you are
going to get paid. Most attorneys are hesitant to speak about this, but this is obviously
something important for you to consider. Here at Grimes Teich Anderson we work on a percentage
of your recovery. It is called a contingency fee. Depending on the kind of case, the time
we anticipate will be needed and the complexity of the case, we have different fee arrangements
based on a percentage of the recovery. The only thing in addition to the fees, are the
out- of pocket costs. Those are things like filing fees and medical records. All of those
things, we are happy to explain to you and again there is no charge for the initial consultation
so if you got a serious injury claim please contact us at Grimes Teich Anderson, we would
be happy to discuss it with you.
