Following the discontinuation of LogMeIn's free service,
we've decided to review one of the main alternatives, TeamViewer.
We're first going to look at the desktop version, which provides two main functionalities
the remote control mode and the meeting mode. We'll first have a look at
the remote control mode, which is what most home users and users coming over from LogMeIn will use.
This allows you to control a computer using a provided ID and password
which you can see on the left. This is what you'd give out to allow temporary access to your computer, in order to control another computer.
On the right we can see where you would enter the ID and Password, in order to control another computer.
In the separate window on the right, we can log in to Teamviewer,
which allows you to add computers to access, such as a work or home one.
Now we're going to go over the meeting functionality of TeamViewer
we click this button to start the meeting,
and if we look at the control panel over on the right, we can see a meeting ID,
which you give to virtual attendees to allow them access to the meeting.
After that we can see the various meeting mode functions, such as Voice over IP,
various screen-sharing options such as showing only specific applications to the attendees,
and the file box to allow the head of the meeting to share files with the participants.
Beneath this we can see a my video option to share a webcam,
and finally, a whiteboard option which allows you to draw over your screen.
We're now going to connect to a computer in Teamviewer, first using the account function,
in this case, Tom's laptop.
As you can see, we now have full control of Tom's computer.
Here we can see another feature of Teamviewer, allowing you to share a window
with a contact you have on your Teamviewer account.
When going between two high-speed Internet connections,
the quality is good enough to play an HD video smoothly, with sound transfered,
although our video capture software introduces some lag.
Teamviewer has a number of free iPad, iPhone and Android apps,
here some on the iPad including the main one for remote control mode and
and another for the meeting mode. The two HD apps including 95 pound one
are obsolete. We'll look at the main one people will use, the remote control app.
In the app you can see all the computers on your account
You can click the remote control button to connect to one of them.
We're now going to connect to my computer using the computer ID and simple passcode,
which does not require the use of an account.
As well the TeamViewer control panel,
you can see that the desktop background has changed to black to improve performance,
and to indicate that someone is controlling your computer.
We now have access to all our Windows applications.
We can easily access the on screen keyboard as such, also bringing up keys not present on the standard iPad keyboard
including Escape, Tab and Control.
One of the problems is that the standard iPad autocorrect that we're used to does not work.
I don't think you can play any games like this, as they don't tend to open properly,
although I'm not sure how you would achieve this anyway

All TeamViewer is free for private, non-commercial use, the business prices are quite high,
although fortunately there are no monthly fees.
Whilst there are some alternatives, such as Splashtop, Chrome Remote Desktop,
and VNC if you fancy technical configuration,
We'd recommend TeamViewer for home users, for its simplicity and ease of setup.
Thank you for watching.
... or control your computer, or control another computer, if you're using your computer ...
OK Sam you've got your knees down right?
I need to try and make it appear I'm quite high up...
Wait hang on, maybe if I move the tripod further up - that's better.
Just have it coming from down here looking up at me...
So that didn't work...
So here's where we should film today's video...
Following the recent discontinuation of LogMeIn's free service,
we've decided to review one of the main... [FLUSHING]
So shocking...
