Death for the Craigslist Killer. That’s the word out of Ohio, as a judge sentenced
Richard Beasley to death.
Beasley reportedly lured three men to a farm in 2011 with promises of jobs — only to
kill them, helped by a 16-year-old accomplice. WEWS reports, the court saw a far different
man today...
“Beasley sat in a wheelchair with his
head bowed down for much of this hearing. He was convicted of luring unemployed men
with a bogus Craigslist ad that promised, quote, a farmhand job...”
Beasley refused to speak prior to sentencing, but did speak up after it.
WKYC notes, Beasley’s change-of-heart was only briefly tolerated.
“I have killed nobody.”
“Beasley proclaimed his innocence as a fact.."
“The judge stopped him saying she wasn’t going to retry this case today.”
One man who did speak at length: Scott Davis, who escaped Beasley’s ruse when the gun
he used reportedly mis-fired.
Fox affiliate WJW has his comments...
“I am the one that got away. The one that will haunt you the rest of your life.”
“I will be there if you get death, smiling. You will remember this face.”
The Latin Times notes, there were more than a few oddities in this case.
For one, Beasley was a self-proclaimed man of God.
“The bearded Beasley, sporting glasses and combed gray hair was comforted by his attorney
... Beasley thought of himself as a ‘street preacher’ of sorts."
Beasley has promised to appeal and says he will win.
