Nowadays you have to be in shape due to the fact that we
have a lot more diving and competitions and it's a lot of up
here too. Mainly because of the fact that we don't have a
place where we can train of 28 or 26 meters. So the whole
idea is to keep your body in shape as much as you can and
then up here is the thinking part of the rest of the dive. You
do train but only on 10 meter and then the rest of it is up
here. I think I'm more of a mind person. Like I
been in the sport for a long time and I have to deal with a
lot of difficult situations, difficult locations, difficult
dives, tough competition situations and at that moment the physical
part is always there, you know you are always strong if you
did the preparations, you are always in shape, but
you have to deal with this and it's a mental thing.
You know I really don't think it's so much that you can train
the mind to do it, you are either like have that as a diver or
you don't. I say it is possible to train your mind, you
have to go over these dives a hundred, two hundred times
and before you have even tried the dive once you have to
know that you can do it and what you gonna feel like, what you
gonna see. Maybe 1 or 2 seconds before the jump my brain
flies, my body stays but my brain flies.
Before the dive I'm just a 100 % focused on what I have to do.
By the time I step out to the platform the
only thing I'm thinking about is just the start. You know
just the first jump, not even the flips because my mind already knows how to do it.
As soon as I take off, it's almost like an automatic change.
The thing is if I know I'm diving today, I'm going to be fit, I know it.
If I show up here to dive today, I'm fit to dive
mentally and physically. If not, I'm not going to come. I'm not even going to show up.
