In the previous RefWorks tutorial you learned the basics of using RefWorks to manage citations and create bibliographies for your sources.
In this series of short tutorials we will look at how to export citations from different databases into RefWorks.
Exporting citations from EBSCO databases is easy, and only requires a few simple steps. Some databases produced by EBSCO include:
Academic Search Complete, Business Source Complete, MEDLINE, MasterFILE, and more. First, if you are off campus make sure you are
First, if you are off campus make sure you are logged in with your UWNetID to the proxy server.
Then select your database of choice. Type in your search terms, and then submit your query. Once you have located articles related to your
research you can either export them to RefWorks individually, or as a group. To export an article individually from an EBSCO database,
simply click on the article link and then click the export icon, symbolized by a piece of paper with a green arrow. Then select the “Direct Export to
RefWorks” option, and click ‘Save’ on the left side of the screen. If you have found more than one article of interest, you can export them in a
group by first clicking the “add to folder” button. Click “folder view,” then click the same export icon, along with ‘Save’ on the left side of the
screen. After you have exported your articles, RefWorks should automatically open. If it does not, check to see if your pop-blockers are on.
You may have to enable them to accept pop-ups from EBSCO, and then repeat the process again. After RefWorks opens you should see
your article citations under the new imports tab; from here you can choose to move the exported citations into a specific folder.
