Michael: how would you sum up
Birmingham in 2010 what's important to you.
Paul: Well you know one of the major things that I think Birmingham has done
is put on an incredible range of really exciting international cultural activities.
The international dance festival of Birmingham which happened earlier this year
was an incredible festival of dance from every corner of the globe,
and that’s absolutely what Birmingham does best isn’t it it welcomes people from wherever they are in
the world and represents their culture,
and gives it real respect and it gives it high profile,
and there was some amazing things that happened in the dance festival this year
on the streets of Birmingham in fact in this very square.
Michael: So give us one image that to you would be one of your favourite moments of Birmingham 2010.
Paul: Well the Dance Festival,
an event called Visible Dances which happened on high street Birmingham lots
of local people dancing for themselves but also professional dancers
as well, creating things
on a streetscape that you just wouldn't expect to see, so people dancing and taking money
out of the cash machine, people dancing and going shopping
you know just weaving dance into everyday people's lives. Michael: Do you know that might
be one of mine as well I saw that on the telly and what a wonderful wonderful moment that was, happened in Birmingham
what a way to run an event in Birmingham for everybody to enjoy.
Paul, thank you very much indeed.
