[music] Good day everybody, I'm Larry Marble. We're
at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association meeting in Denver, Colorado and we're talking
with cattleman and fellow producer Brian Prins. Tell us about the community in South Dakota
where you're from. It's a rural community. We live in some hills,
it's glacial lakes hills, pushed up. Rough ground, lot of rocks.
But it oughta be pretty? It is extremely pretty in the summer and extremely
cold in the winter. Alright, like it is here today. Now Brian,
tell us about how you use the Z Tag product up in your country in the Dakotas.
We use it on our cows, our cows and our calves. We used to use Brisket tags. We've gotten
away from the Brisket tag. It's too hard to read in the spring of the year, it's muddy
and whatnot, we had too many mistakes on pairing up calves.
Because you couldn't see that Brisket tag? We couldn't see that Brisket tag, it would
get muddy. So we've gone to a double ear tag in the cows. We use the large cow tag and
we tag all our calves with the large cow tags so it's easy visibility whether you're on
a horse or a four-wheeler or what when we pair them off and push them into other pastures.
Do you use the blank tag and put them on yourself? We do. We do.
And you don't have any trouble using that tag marker and seeing that out there?
Not at all, in fact they last a long time. Occasionally you'll have a tag, you'll lose
a tag on a cow but you've always got the backup of the other one.
Right. And very little retention trouble.
Alright now how old is the oldest cow in your herd right now?
The oldest cows we just sold off were our seventh and eighth calves, cows.
Did they have their original tags up in their ears?
Some of them did. We started…yeah, some of them did.
Alright, so those Z Tags are working for Brian Prins from up in the Dakotas. Now, I want
you to show us one time how easy it is to operate. Here's your tag, here's your tagger
with that swivel head, and let's pretend this is that cow's ear and Brian's going to tag
me. See how easy it is? We've been talking to Brian Prins from up in the Dakotas. He's
a user of the Z No Snag Tag on his cows and his calves. Brian, thanks for being on Z TV.
Absolutely. Thank you.
