Hi everybody. I'm Dr David Reath and I'm here to discuss this week's Truth-O-Meter Tuesday question
During the winter many people are concerned with skin irritation
during the winter months. So I thought we'd ask a question about taking care of your skin.
What we said was using detergents, fabric softeners and soaps that are scented
is harmful to your skin, or can add to skin irritation.
The answer as most everybody got is yes it is absolutely true.
One of the things that is most noxious are the fragrances that are put in them.
They irritate the skin and are just really not helpful. I see people who
have irritation of the skin and I have some as well as do many of my family members
And when I talk to people there are some basci steps you can do.
For a soap use something that is not harsh and is without fragrances or deodorants and what we use is Dove for Sensitive Skin
I don't have stock in Dove. I'm not trying to advertize for them but it's a great soap for sensitive skin.
And the fabric softeners and detergents you use should be fragrance free.
It's really a benefit. Other things you can do are back off on perfumes if you use them
Body washes are some of the worst in terms of skin irritation and consider unscented deodorants as well.
So these things will help but there is another little hidden secret in terms of taking care of your skin:
For people who have trouble with eczema or atopic dermatitis Probiotics is very helpful.
I'm using them and have seen imporvement in my skin irritation and my wife, who has significant eczema has seen it almost totally eliminated by using Probiotics.
to what we do every day. It does effect your overall immunological health by changing the bacteria in your intestines
We are finding our more beneficial things about Probiotics every day and I really recommend them. We have them here in the office so come by and pick some up.
So let's find out who this week's winner is.
