who yearn for adventure.
Hi, I'm Tasha Brown, and I, too, enjoy adventure.
I will be showing you some of the fun experiences I had
in New Zealand and Australia.
I will also be telling you about other opportunities that are
available to those who visit these two countries.
With all that New Zealand and Australia have to offer, it was
hard to pin down just a few excursions to talk about.
Before I show you the amazing possibilities, I want to
tell you what an excursion is.
Think of it as a fun day trip, meaning you don't
have to go, but I would suggest that you take part in
at least a few while abroad.
Going to New Zealand and Australia means outdoor
activities, so many of the excursions available to those
who go are related to water, mountains, or the woods.
If you like to get wet, try a water excursion like
jet boating, snorkeling, or diving on the
Great Barrier Reef.
Try surfing while at Bondi Beach--it's a mere 45 minutes
southeast of Sydney.
If you want to stay dry, no worries, you can still go
to the underwater observatory to witness firsthand the
Great Barrier Reef's wonders or relax on a large platform
right off the reef.
Of course there is always the option of staying on the beach
and getting a tan or playing games.
One of my favorite water excursions was actually a
crocodile tour during which we got up close and personal
with a crocodile eating her lunch and a baby crocodile
hanging out on a branch.
On mountainous excursions you are bound to stay dry
if you take the cable car up, but if you decide to hike
you may not be so lucky.
Either way the views are astounding.
After you finally make it to the top of the mountain,
you may take part in luging.
This little adventure is completely controlled by you
and gravity--that is what will determine how fast
you go careening down the side of a mountain.
Students may also go skiing or hop in a four-wheel-drive
vehicle for some off-road fun.
I personally decided to jump off a large platform and
into a canyon, free falling for 196 feet then
immediately swinging for 656 feet.
It's called a canyon swing and it was, well, scary!
Bush-related excursions consist of things like bush walking or
leisurely strolling through one of the many botanical gardens.
We took a bit more of an adventurous look at the
Daintree Rainforest when we went zip lining.
Dangling and swirling from the treetops was not only
fun but amazing as well.
We witnessed stunning views that we would have
never seen on the ground.
One of my favorite excursions was when we visited the
wildlife sanctuaries.
It may not have been action-packed, but we saw many
of both New Zealand and Australia's native wildlife.
Getting to hold a koala and pet a kangaroo at an
Australian wildlife sanctuary was astonishing.
Adventure means something different to everyone but
no matter what your definition is, New Zealand and Australia
are bound to have something for you!
We are EIU.
