Welcome to Freshman Composition II in the 3- week accelerated format.
My name is Lynnda Brown, and I am your instructor.
I have been teaching in the education field since 1984, and I’ve been teaching online since 2002.
I love the independence and flexibility that the online environment offers.
In 2008, I received the Blackboard Exemplary Course award for the design of my Freshman Composition I course.
And in 2013, my Business Communications course was recognized by Quality Matters.
I have two children, a son who is in graduate school at Texas A&M University and a daughter who attends Broken Arrow High School.
I am very active in my church where I teach ladies Bible class among many other things.
I love to travel.
And I spend most of my free time at home working in my garden or reading a good book.
Now on to highlight the key points of this course.
Composition II is a required course for most majors in the state’s higher education system.
Even though this course only runs for 3 weeks, it is equal in rigor to any Comp II course taken in the state of Oklahoma.
Our main topic of study will be argument.
In order to complete the required reading and writing assignments,
successful students report they spend approximately 30 hours per week on course work.
The course is divided into three modules. You will cover one per week.
Each week you will read approximately 1/3 of the textbook
analyze, evaluate, and discuss several readings from current events,
write a 500 word paper,
write a formal essay
and complete one or two other assignments specific to the chapters covered.
You will have assignments due almost every day.
This is because there is so much instructor feedback.
You need my feedback as you move through your assignments
so that you can be continually improving your thinking and writing skills.
The schedule of assignments in the Bb course site identifies when each assignment is due.
The schedule is found in the Syllabus and Couse Info area.
Please print a copy to have handy.
That was a quick overview of the course.
Please read the syllabus and the information in the Start Here area for specific details on course policy.
The next three weeks will go by very quickly.
But, by the end, you and I will know each other quite well!
