In humanitarian news, a hospital in South Sudan helps save new mothers. The Aweil Civil
Hospital is offering much needed care to women in the Northern Bahr al-Ghazal State of South
Sudan, which is expected to become independent in July 2011. Operated by the international
humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders, the hospital’s obstetric program
is assisting in significantly improving the maternal survival rate. Some expectant mothers
now travel long distances to receive important medical treatment at the facility.
Our heartfelt gratitude, Doctors Without Borders, for your laudable assistance to women and
infants in South Sudan. May all new mothers and babies flourish in health and happiness.
