Hello. You know, over the last eight years, The Gay Christian Network
has helped thousands of people to reconcile their faith with their sexuality
or that of their loved ones. And we're also working now around the globe
to make a difference in churches, so that in the future an organization like ours won't need
to exist. But that day is not here yet, and right now we still need to exist.
I don't have to tell you that
the economy is terrible right now -- churches, charities and
even big corporations are going out of business, like this one...
And that one... And that one too!
Okay, maybe not that one -- for some reason people still love their burgers!
Nom nom... Nommm...
I don't understand it, but...
This economy has hit GCN really hard as well. Many of our
donors are out of work and are unable to support us the way they wish they could,
so that means we have to cut costs wherever we possibly can. We've even tried
saving a bunch of money on our car insurance by switching to Geico. Unfortunately,
we don't have car insurance, so that didn't really help much.
[Nate] Sounds like you're really struggling -- I'd love to send you some resources.
[Justin] Actually, sorry Nate, we, errr, can't pay the high phone bill.
Try this instead. It's a lot cheaper.
[Nate] Hello..? [Justin] Of course we're also pursuing
all kinds of fundraising opportunities as well, like applying for grant money
for instance, or like the new Christmas giving center that Aaron here just built for us. You can
do your Christmas shopping and support GCN at the same time -- pretty cool.
Of course if that doesn't work, that's all right; we'll just have Aaron build us a new website
where our staff members can sell their organs. [Aaron] Wait a minute! What?
[Justin] All of us are working to do our part. Next week when I
meet with the board of directors, I'm going to ask them to cut my salary down to the bare minimum I need
to pay my basic bills and living expenses. It's not a panacea, but
every little bit we can put back in the GCN coffers helps. [Nate] Thanks!
[Justin] Sure. [Nate] Errr, this is Monopoly money.
[Justin] Oh yeah, they stopped paying me in real money a long time ago -- cost cutting.
[Nate] What's a panacea..? [Justin] It's a cure-all.
Of course, ultimately, GCN is powered by you.
Depending on you've been affected in this economy, there are different ways that you can help.
If you're one of the lucky ones, you've got a good job, you're living comfortably, maybe
this is the very time for you to think about writing an extra large check, or setting up a matching
donation fund. It's tax deductable and it would carry us over
until the economy improves. And trust me, we would be grateful.
I mean we'd be sooo grateful. We'd find a way to show you our gratitude.
We'd errrr, umm... We'd...
We'd send you a snack! [Aaron] Hey! Wait a minute! No, no -- selling these on Ebay.
Excuse me. Thanks. Ah, this too!
[Justin] We'd think of something. But even if this economy has hit you hard and you
can't afford to write a large check, just sponsoring a forum is a great way to
help ensure that GCN is here in the future. Here to tell you all about it
is our community manager, Brandon... Or would be -- where's Brandon, guys?!
[distant voice] Remember? We had to replace him with the Brandon puppet.
[Justin] Ah, right. Sorry, just one moment.
[Southern accent] Hello, I'm
Brandon, and I'm here to tell you that you can
sponsor a forum for only twenty bucks a month. Just go to
gaychristian.net/support. Thank you.
[Justin] But maybe you're in a position where you've lost your job and
you can barely afford to keep the lights on. [Nate] That's a good idea!
[Justin] Okay, we need lights people!
Anyway, if that's you, there's still a way for you to support GCN without giving a dime!
Just help us get an event set up with a group that you're involved in. It can be any kind of
group -- a gay group, a Christian group, a church, a student group, a community
group. We'll set up an event, or a speaking engagement, with them
on topics that are relevent to what your group is interested in and the work that
GCN does. We can even set it up as fundraiser for your group and for GCN.
Just send the leaders of your group to gaychristian.net/events
[Nate] Yeah, of course.
[Justin] So from all of us here at GCN,
thanks for watching. And remember, GCN is powered
by you, and only you can prevent forest fires.
[Nate] Brandon wants to know if you've been impersonating him again.
[Justin] No.
And if that doesn't work,
well, we'll just have him build a new website where people can, where, err, blah,
where I can screw up my lines. [Laughter]
Dun da da da daaaa... [Nate] Can we put that at the end?
[Justin] No!!! [Nate] That's all folks!
