>>Erik: What elements do you prioritize when crafting a personal brand?
>>Stephanie: I think it’s important for people to be aware of the message that they
are sending out. I get a lot of people who want to be digital planners or digital strategist
who don’t have any presence online and I say, “Ooops, there is a disconnect there.”
You know, you can’t talk about yourself in the digital world and not be playing in
it at the same time. On the other hand, if someone is really active in social change
but they’re not doing anything in that space and just kind of talking about it, there is
a disconnect there. Going to clubs, but not going to seminars or conferences or that kind
of thing. So, it’s just more of a self awareness of saying, ‘This is who I am and this is
how I live my life and live my brand.” If you want to call it that.
>>Erik: Sure. Too many people worrying about planning there career on paper rather than
going out and living their career.
>>Stephanie: It’s a little bit of both. You know, we’re in the smoke and mirrors
business as much as – or I am particularly in the advertising/creative business, but
I think any company, any industry, your image matters. So, being aware of, again the jobs
and what steps you’re taking and what you’re career, kind of what you’re paper resume
is saying about you, but also being aware of everything that you do outside is also
saying something about you.
