Bienvenue au salon Retromobile a Paris
In other words: Welcome
What a fantastic expo it is, Retromobile in Paris
More than 500 exhibitors and as many cars
in the largest and most prestigious hall in the Exp of Porte de Versailles
When we enter our eyes are immediately drawn to the Babs of Perry Thomas
Thomas was crashed with the Babs when trying to break the speedrecord on Pendine Sands
After the crash, the car was buried in the sand
42 years later this illustrious car was dug up and in the
15 years afterwards restored
Next to it we see the 350 hp Sunbeam of Donald Campbell
under the hood we find a 18 liter twelve cilinder engine from a plane
with his 18 liters it is no match against the 24 liters of the babs
Booths with old parts, Bugatti projects, books
wine tastings
complete the typical parisian feeling
If you're not able to buy a classic car from this level
you still have enough booths that sell your favourite car only a little bit smaller
For instance at the booth of TC-Models
Henk en Janneke ten Cate travel all over the world
and are specialised in the CMC models
Hand assembled from hundreds, sometimes thousands of parts
This edition of the Salon clears enough space for the national brands as
Citroën, Peugeot and Renault
'bragging' with their rich history and futuristic concept cars
Speaking of history, more than hundred years ago during the first World War
Louis renault designed a small, light tank
that afterwards was copied by many others
These lorry's transported during the war 9,000 soldiers and
50.000 ton of materials every week between Bar le Duc and Verdun
To keep the attack of the German troops under control
the French army used 600 parisian taxi's to bring 3.000 soldiers 100 kilometers towards the front lines.
'Taxi's de la Marne' cannot be ignored
they are an important chapter of the parisian history
After his succes in 2013 with his Citroën DS stand. Lukas Hüni is back this year
and succeeded again with a exhibition at top level
This time for Lancia
With the Lancia Aurelia D24 Competition Barchetta as eyecatcher
Legends of Le Mans should are not ignored this year
On the back of the Fiat Bartoletti lorry
on itself already a magnificent appearance
the famous Ferrari 330 P4
Jean Rédélé, the founder of Alpine
shows his personal blue tinted collection
In light of the 37th edition of Paris Dakar
the Youngtimers Magazine shows a dozen of dustbiters
Thousand and one cars of the maharadja's. With Louwman's Swan Car
the Delage D8
and a range of Rolls Royce Phantoms
it is clear which brand the Maharadja's preferred
'Galerie des Artistes' is maybe the most French thing you can find on the Salon
besides all the wine tastings ofcourse
Retromobile in Paris, we sure love it
next year we will be going again 'en route' to the most chic and exclusive Salon of Europe
