If you want to fasten things to masonry or plasterboard walls, I will show you what to
use and how to do it. If you want to fix something to a hollow plasterboard wall we have a range
of hollow wall fixings. We have a heavy duty toggle, a spring toggle, a gravity toggle
and a screwing wall anchor.
To fit the toggle bolt, you drill a hole in the wall, close up the toggles, put the bolts
in to the holes, let the toggles expand and do up the screws. Here we have a range of
masonry wall fixings. We have wall plugs for light screw fixings, masonry screws for fittings
directly into your drill hole without the use of expanding sleeves or plugs. These are
both examples of expanding bolts. The [donner] bolt and the Loxin. The [donner] bolt is used
for a permanent fixing where is the Loxin allows the bolt to be removed. These are wall
plugs for lighter uses.
They come in a variety of sizes, in diameter and length. You drill a hole a wall, fit the
plug to the hole and screw in to the plug. I will now fit a toggle hooked to the wall.
The toggle is closed, is placed throw the hole in the wall it open on the inside and
then you do up the toggle, to tighten it on to the wall panel. I will need to drill a
12-mil hole in the wall, to fit the toggle throw the hole. I now fit the toggle in the
wall and screw it tight. It's now nice and firm and ready to use. I'm going to fix a
piece of timber to the wall.
Firstly, I need to mark the wall where I'm going to place the fixing. Then I need to
be sure that I drilled a hole deep enough for the fixing, in this case approximately
40 mil. I'm now going to drill a hole in the wall and before I do, I'm going to where my
personal protection equipment. With the anchor throw the hole in the wood hammered into the
wall. Simply tighten with a screw driver. If you have any more questions come down to
your local Bunnings warehouse and a team member will help you.
