Hi everyone, it's Sarah from Hair Thursday and today
I'm gonna show you three quick and easy ways
to rock the deep side part.
So the way I figure out where to place my deep side part
has to do with my eyebrow.
What I like to do is place the comb on the arch of my eyebrow
and just move it upwards and then go straight back in my hair
and that's usually where I'll create that part.
So you just want to comb all of the hair over.
The first hairstyle I want to show you all today is kind of
this modern interpretation on the Veronica Lake look.
The really pretty, voluminous waves with the deep side part.
So back in the day, it took lots of time and lots of pin curls,
and sleeping on pin curls all night to create these waves,
but now with all the tools we have, it's much, much easier,
so I tend to go the easy route.
Today I'm going to use rollers to create these waves.
I take the roller about three-fourths of the way down,
wrap the ends around the roller to ensure that any layers
stay on the roller and don't fall out, and then take
the clip and clip it on.
Continue to roll these up.
Take one and a half to two inches --
make sure your hair's smooth.
Starting three-fourths of the way down, spin that hair around,
tuck the ends under and then roll upwards to the head.
I'm gonna go ahead and finish up rolling the rest of my hair.
I finished putting all the steam rollers in
and now I'm gonna take them out.
As you can see, I've taken all of these rollers out, almost.
And then maybe put a little bit of hairspray, because
the hairspray's gonna help keep that hair coming
all the way over, especially if you have longer bangs.
This is hairstyle number one.
The second hairstyle can be worn by anyone, but it's especially
fantastic for any of you that are trying to grow your bangs
out and have some fringe or whatever just kind of
hanging down in your face.
What we're gonna do is just create a small braid
across the front of our bangs.
Now, if you are a braiding genius you are welcome to
French braid or fishtail or whatever you'd like.
But for me, I usually just keep it like a normal braid just
because I normally have like two minutes in the morning to
get ready and I'm trying to get ready and rush out the door,
so I just pull my bangs, about this one-inch section
right here and I'm just gonna start braiding.
And then as I start to get down lower, I might just grab
a little bit more hair from the sides, only because my bangs
are a certain length and if I don't grab extra hair,
there's not gonna be any hair left to braid.
So I'm just kind of pulling hair,
just a little bit here and there.
And I'm just wanting to kind of go at this diagonal down my head
because I'm gonna pin it back with a bobby pin.
Right kind of behind your ear, clip that braid.
Be sure you get the bobby pin around the braid so it doesn't
loosen and then you know, push it back, then kind of
pull the hair down around it, and it keeps that side part
pulled really, really tight.
The third hairstyle is just building on what we just created
with this braid in the front.
It's keeping the braid in and then creating a nice little side
bun, which is just absolutely adorable and very easy to do.
So what you want to do is, obviously you still have that
braid in your hair, you want to gather all of your hair
over here on the side and create a low side ponytail.
Make sure to get all of your hair in, and you just want to
secure it with an elastic that's the same color as your hair
or a clear elastic works, too.
Then you could actually just leave it like this if you want
to, but I'm gonna take it one step further and cerate a bun,
a really, really easy bun.
You're just gonna take your hair and kind of curl it around
itself, just like you would do a top knot or any other bun,
but you just want to kind of get it in your hand and the key
to this style is do not worry about it looking perfect.
You don't want it to look perfect.
You want it look messy.
So I've kind of grabbed all my hair here, there's little bits
coming out but that's perfectly fine, and at this point,
you just want to secure it with some bobby pins or spin pins,
which are fantastic.
They're these corkscrew pins that kind of like grab your hair
and they're great for people that have problems with
their hair staying up in buns.
So I'm putting a couple of spin pins in there...
just to kind of secure it.
I'm just making sure it's all secured from all sides.
And then at that point, you can kind of make sure
everything's looking okay.
It's really easy to create these styles, so I really
hoped you all enjoyed these three hairstyles
and definitely try out the deep side part.
I know sometimes it feels a little awkward having
all of that hair on one side, but it's a really fun way
to change up your look, so I hope you all enjoyed this
and I'll talk to you soon.
Bye.
