[off] The writer of our next play is Jo Clifford.
He's taken as an inspiration, I think it's fair to say, the medieval morality play Everyman...
...and he's called his Every One
Jo's version of Everyman is an extraordinary description of a crisis that hits this very normal family...
...and I think what you have is a playwright who is somebody who is exploring for himself...
...what that means and how can you accommodate that in your life?
Is there any way you can accommodate it in your life?
And it's a remarkably life-affirming evening, it's a wonderfully provocative piece.
But ultimately, I think what it does is it takes account of one of the things that we can't deal with...
...in our lives, which is the death of loved ones.
And it attempts to take that, and elevate that up to somewhere that it's tenable...
...and perhaps gives us a wee bit of enlightenment, hope and context.
Maybe it will help you on your journey. Certainly I think in the writing of it...
...it's helped Jo on his journey, which he's still on.
