Hello, it's Simon here!
Well, it didn't take long for us to start
making a mess in our new house.
We've been itching to get rid of the plastic ceilings
since we got the keys,
so that's where we started.
We discovered that behind the plastic
was what was left of the original plaster.
In fact, it seems that every ceiling or wall
has been covered up by another one at least once,
so the house is slightly bigger than we thought!
Aline started stripping wallpaper with so many layers
that it's practically cardboard!
This is to make it easier to remove the plaster
from the brick wall behind.
I carried on peeling back the decades
while being showered in dust and...
mummified mice...
specifically trying to uncover hidden parts of the house
that will help us make architectural decisions.
We've mostly nailed down our high level plans now,
and next week the professional demolition
guys will come to finish what we started,
so hopefully we've saved them a few days of work.
On Sunday we spent the entire day at Batibouw -
a large construction and renovation expo -
looking at bathrooms,
stairs,
and all sorts of other stuff.
There's still a long way to go,
but in the meantime tell us how we're doing in the comments below,
and we'll be back soon.
- OMG, I forgot I had my head thing on!
- Look!
- What?
- You look like one of the two-eyed Minions!
- ♫ because I'm happy ♫
- Oh, I hate that song!
Seriously?
