The beauty, the physical beauty of the Bay Area actually supports me in my art making.
I feel like I'm spoiled with good weather and good food and great diversity. The Bay
Area represents a way of imagining another world. I never have been surrounded with so
many artists all at one time. I just never experienced an area like this before. This
being on the edge of the continent this border-like quality appeals to a certain kind of people.
Seeing mural art and street art and go to the independent galleries or to the MoMA.
Oh yeah this one day I ran into like the parade. The area itself is so creative and everything
you need to go to art school this is probably like the perfect area. We have a lot of access
to other cultures, other ideas, nature, but also high tech. CCA is sitting here in this
place that's called the innovation corridor. We've got a number of design consultancies
like Frog and IDEO not very far away. So we're kind of sitting in a hub. Silicon Valley as
a hotbed of innovation, ideas, entrepreneurship. Suddenly you'd be there with your project,
and you'd be talking with someone who, like, you'd probably want a job with at some point.
That's one thing the Bay Area really has, it's innovation. The hotbed, the place that
it happened, the place that everything changed was right here in the Bay Area. You feel comfortable
that you will find your place, and that wasn't always true in the town I grew up in.
