Gooday folks, Damien for Proactive IT Solutions here.
Today I'm gonna do a quick product review on the HP Spectre XT ultra book.
This is their professional grade ultra book
and like all ultra books it is quite light,
very thin
and very good on battery life.
Overall the ultra book has got a good look and feel, its got a brushed aluminium finish
over all areas apart from the base
and its got a rigid and solid construction and as a
laptop
it is quite sturdy.
In terms of ports one of the things ultra books do suffer from is a lack of ports.
This one is not really any different.
Its got two USB's, one on each side
and its also got hdmi for an external monitor, has an SD card
and really really important, well really good, is that its got a ethernet port which
most ultra books don't have and that's really handy if your a professional user and you
want to plug into your office network this one can do it. You don't have to rely
on a slow
wireless network or have a USB
to network converter, so that's really great.
The keyboard itself is quite good to use, its backlit so you can
turn that on and work in dim conditions
its got a good feel to it, I find it very nice to type on.
The screens are glossy, a 14 inch screen that's also very good to look at.
Its not too bad out in the light but it does suffer the sort of problems you
get with these glossy
LCD screens.
The mouse pad is not too bad, it probably could be improved, on mine
and I've noticed on another one we've sold the mouse pad is a bit clicky,
uh... star as old as i would expect the base that's probably one that up
uh...
its not as solid as I would expect it to be, so that probably one downer otherwise its quite good to use.
It terms of performance though, this ultra book really shines. Its got a SSD drive
and
and an I5 processor and its really quick to boot especially with windows 8
you
get a fabulous performance with Windows 8
We've had this installed with windows 7 and it doesn't perform anywhere near as good
To boot your really looking at about 5 seconds I've just turned it on
and within a matter of seconds you'll be at the log on screen and ready to log on and start
using it so brilliant performance
I've used this for the last 2 months and found its speed excellent, found its performance
excellent, very stable
battery life is fantastic, you get about 5 or 6 hours. So overall a really good laptop if you are
planning on travelling a lot and using it out of the office
As it happens I do use it in the office a lot but I do take it home
and do work on it at home and I know that I've got enough battery in it to last me
the couple of hours that I'm working on it, so that's really good.
I can recommend this
its probably one of the better ultra books i've seen out there
They go for about $1,000/ $1200 so there pretty well priced
and I think anybody who buys this who is a road warrior or someone who wants mobile computer use
will be extremely happy and impressed with it.
