I'm extraordinarily proud of being in this province.
I think there was no place in the world where I could have gone that was better.
I'm so happy to be in Ontario and to be in Canada.
Jeanne Lamon Order of Ontario Appointee
Music Director of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra for 30 years - regarded as one of the top
in its field.
Her work and vision has shaped modern and period performance across Ontario.
I came to Toronto to direct this brand new orchestra in 1981 called Tafelmusik, and it
was really nothing. It was a concept.
We have so many accomplishments, we have our own recording label, we've toured around the
world so many times and we've made over 80 cds.
It's not about me, it's about Tafelmusik, it's a very collaborative group that works
beautifully together as a whole and that's what makes us successful.
I found a way to make very, very short flashes of light. I make attosecond pulses to take
pictures of the world of electrons.
Paul Corkum Order of Ontario Appointee
Physicist regarded as the father of attosecond science - hailed as one of the most important
scientific developments of the 21st century.
His work has established Ottawa as an international centre of excellence for photonics research.
It's one of the great things in a career that you can have, isn't it?
The NRC was interested in pursuing the ideas that I was arguing for, and now the university
of Ottawa understands the area of photonics is so important and they're building us one
of the best photonic centres and here I am, in the middle of it.
I wanted to do something where I was working with people every day. And where I had the
opportunity to see change, change in people's lives.
So that's what led me here.
Allison Fisher Order of Ontario Appointee
Executive Director of Ottawa's Wabano Cenre for Aboriginal Health, a state-of-the-art
facility serving more than 10,000 Aboriginal people every year and widely regarded as the
premier Aboriginal health centre in the country.
It isn't about the honour of one, it's about the honour of all.
It's a complex space. It's about spirituality, it's about engagement, it's about social relationships.
It is the province of Ontario that has taken the lead in aboriginal health. We are by far
the premier facility in health care, today. And we've made a difference.
