No, you should not. The long wave has just started.
I think we have achieved quite a big step
in the whole wave, but none of the demands of the revolution
has been really achieved.
The stepping out of Mubarak
is symbolically a very important step.
democratisation and liberalisation of life
in Egypt after a long period of dictatorship
and accordingly achieving the social progress, still remain.
These were the basis for all this unrest.
Yes, but you know the parliament is a fraud parliament from the very beginning.
over a period of twelve years, it
Not only military but also the same persons of the old regime.
It is not all military but still the prime minister was himself a minister in the last government of Mubarak
He was the minister of civil aviation and he is a military guy
he came from the air force and worked for President Mubarak
and all the other ministers are from old regime.
So even after achieving all that
we still have the martial law,
the law of emergency, under which we had the mistake of Mubarak
getting into power and we still have a big package of laws those that have been put by [Anwar] Sadat
and they are threatening the freedom and the democracy in this very country.
And the last important issue is the Constitution
because the revolution wants a new Constitution for a civil state
and a Parliamentary Democracy and not a presidential one..
Because the existing Constitution just gives all powers in the hands of the president.
So any kind of a president will be a dictator after a while.
So we need, I mean, we, the revolutionaries all those
who were demonstrating for Mubarak to step down,
they need a parliamentary democracy in which the parliament can have power to put a government and can elect ministers and so on.
Those ministers should be accountable to the parliament
which is accompanied by the new set of constitution.
This is the not the case as of now.
Even the new commission set up by the military government a week ago
just for change of articles of the new constitution is not accepted by all of them
This is also one of the main demands.
Yes, and you know when people said on the street we want the regime change
that means not only the ministers but also the symbols of the regime
those who have been cooperating with the regime from the National Democratic Party - the party of Mubarak.
They have been put up in every institution of the country like the media
like the police, the municipality- everywhere.
So these people have to leave now. All of them have to leave now.
So this is now the issue in all factories in the country and everywhere.
The people here .. are not satisfied with the results that have been achieved.
I think we are now beginning a new era in which everybody is now trying to form a political platform.
So quite a number of new political parties will be registered soon and a number of independent unions
- labour unions and professional unions and all these kinds of a new wave
A new stage of organisation of the people.
They knew now that they have to transfer these kinds of organisations from software to hardware.
Because the revolution was started by the organisation of the people on the cyberspace.
That was the only communication possible then.
Now they have to move into organisation of the people everywhere,
to be able to raise this pressure until they achieve their demands.
I think it is a long process...for sure the next six months will be very interesting
but I don’t think six months are enough to achieve all what they have been arguing.
So, the democratisation, accountability of all levels of the state
and sentencing of all those responsible for the killings on the streets and the corruption during the last forty years ...
And the escaped money- huge amounts of fortune- have been smuggled out of the country and so on.
All these are demands that are agreed upon by everybody.
And not only the so called left, I mean.
Last but not the least; we have seen in the last week a series of demonstrations and strikes all over the country
Workers and Farmers asking for raises in wages
and liberating their factories from the grip of the old regime and so on.These are now running.
Yes, I think that all the symbols of the old regime (We call it now the counter revolution)
are trying to have a small rest until they are restored to power...
But people are aware of that and they will not rest completely until they achieve it.
But achieving this could only be through new kind of organisation.
We all knew that revolution did not achieve its demands and goals until today but this is a long process.
Also the army now is not very homogeneous.
We have different levels. The high leadership of the army-
they are trying to keep now as much as possible from the old structures and not to open all fronts at once.
But there are also other streams within the army.
