Since 1290 AD there has been a law school perched on a slight hill in a small and quiet
medieval town. On July 1st 1540 Pope Paul III transformed the law school into a “ Studium
Generale” school. This is what they called universities back then. Macerata has continued
a tradition of studying the humanities for more than seven centuries. The University
has seven main areas of study: Law is the oldest field of study at the University, which
prepares students to be successful lawyers, attorneys, and judges. Economics is the most
modern area of study where students specialize in various aspects of business and finance.
Those who study Political Science are working to be versatile professionals who are responsible
for multiple areas of administration. Studying the Humanities helps students to develop a
critical mind. The Communication Sciences is the youngest
field of study at the University, these classes provide the tool that are needed to understand
and manage media and channels of communication. Education Sciences prepare students to become
knowledgeable professionals to teach the young generations for our future. Conservation Sciences
is an important field of study that focuses on preserving and celebrating the cultural
heritage and landscape of this country. At the University of Macerata there are a variety
of services available to students. We start with information technology services “ follow
me” (the speaker goes to enter a classrooms computer). Palazzo Ciccolini belonged to a
noble family during the late 16th century. Today in this palace you can find computer
labs that are available to students and faculty that offer specialized software and computer
training courses. The University’s central library holds thousands of volumes that are
available for students to reference. Additionally, each department has a specific library for
their area of study. In the central library, there are two spacious, bright, yet quiet
rooms that are open from early morning until late at night in order accommodate a large
number of students. There is also a cafe, wifi connection throughout the building and
several locations to use computers. Every semester courses are available for students
to learn how to use the on-line library systems. International students have clean, convenient,
and comfortable residence halls with common spaces where they can cook and partake in
social activities with others. Throughout the residence halls, there is free wifi connection
for students. Governor *** Pan asked Matteo Ricci where he came from and this is how Matteo
replied: "I was not born in Rome, but in between Rome and the Adriatic Sea. This region is
called Marche and it is inhabited by hard working yet humble people, who enjoy peace
and quiet more than words. In the center is a town called Macerata, lying inside the walls
of light pink brick , on a hill that overlooks the sea towards the East. I was born here,
and my father, mother, and siblings live here.Macerata is a welcoming, beautiful, and picturesque
university town that is located between the sea and the mountains. All students can easily
participate in the local community. Macerata Is a place that hosts many events and activities
from theater and music performances, to art exhibitions and sporting events. There are
plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs that allow students to indulge in a variety
of local foods and beverages. Students that study or perform research in Macerata can
