Okay, coming from a relaxed position, I'm going to show you, demonstrate a German Match
grip. Coming up with my arms like this, putting the sticks in the fulcrum right between the
index finger and the thumb on both hands. That's why it's called Match grip. And approach
the drum with a ninety degree angle like this. Aiming for the center of the drum, I'm bending
my wrist from here to here, okay? Just like that. So both hands I'm trying to make them
the same. It's very similar to bouncing a ball. The motion of this grip in particular
is the same motion as this. A good way to practice is also just to kind of get used
to that to develop the flexibility and the mobility in your wrist to do so. If you apply
the right amount of pressure with the fulcrum, and just cradle the stick like this, you'll
learn to feel the natural rebound of the snare drum. What I'm trying to do is get my left
hand to sound like my right hand. So I'm watching stick height, I'm using my ears and all of
the above. So there you go. That's a demonstration of German grip.
