Welcome back to the Tasty Tenner Series. I am Tess, and today I am going to be cooking
my french toast recipe.

For the full ingredients for this recipe, just check the description box. Okay, so I
have got my toast, already toasted here. I have got four slices, and then what I am going
to do is I am going to crack the eggs into the bowl. So I am going to get the egg and
the milk mix it together, I am going to dunk the toast in it, and then I am going to fry
it off. So I'll just get that ready now. So I am going to use two eggs, for four pieces
of toast. And I'm using tiger bread here, but you can use anything you want, you can
use ciabatta bread, or you can just use regular sliced bread, whatever you fancy.I am going
to go in with 200ml milk.
Okay, so I am going to dunk the bread in there. Now, the reason I've toasted the bread is
just because I like the texture more when it is toasted. I always find that with french
toast if you do not toast the bread first it is quite floppy and it can be quite sponge-like,
which I do not really like, particularly. I am just going to cut off some butter, and
put a little *** in the pan. So while the butter is melting, I am just going to get
the goat cheese and the goat yogurt mixed up. You could just use goat yogurt if you
did not like it particularly creamy, but I am adding a little bit of soft goat cheese,
just to kind of make it a little bit richer and really bring out the flavor more, because
goat yogurt is actually very mild. I am just going to pour a little bit of that, this is
about 100ml. Okay, so I am just mashing this up, with a fork.
Right, so the butter has melted nicely, I am just going to get my french toast in, it
is a hot pan now, it is really, really hot so you should hear it sizzle when it goes
in.
Yeah, lovely.
It is probably best to give the french toast about two minutes on each side, you want to
get it nice and golden, and really, really cooked through, but you don't want to lose
all of the moisture of the egg and the milk. This has had about a minute and a half on
this side, and I am about to flip it. Ready to flip now, so I am just going to pop it
over, there we go. Nice and golden and crispy, exactly how I like it. So I have got my goat
yogurt and my goat cheese nice and whipped up, and I am just going to zest a little bit
of lemon into the bowl just to bring out the flavor and give it a bit of a citrus-y kick.
I am just going to zest in about a quarter or half a lemon, not very much, just a little.
Just give it a little whisk through, there we go.
I am just checking my french toast, it is looking good, it is really golden.
And it smells great.
So my french toast is ready, I am just going to pop it on a plate.
Then I get the other ones on. What is so great about this dish is it can be made really any
time of day, and it is a really nice thing to share with friends, especially if you do
not have much in the house, you do not really need very many things to make it and it is
just so delicious.

So I am just going to get on with the pear. So I am simply just going to slice it in half,
like so. Just going to cut it into quarters. I am going to cut out he middle bit, the core.
Just going to slice it into little thin pieces like this, just because it looks nicer I think
than. If you like this recipe and want to find out more, please click the subscribe
button, there are a lot more recipes where this came from. Okay, so I am just going to
serve up a bit of the goat mix. So it should be a nice kind of thick, bit thicker than
yogurt, kind of creme fraiche texture. I am just going to arrange a few pears. And you
just drizzle a little bit of honey.
You could do different variations, you could have a sprinkle of cinnamon over the top if
you fancy, or you could keep it really simple, have maple syrup if you wanted, but yeah,
this is a simple, great breakfast, lunch, any time time of day dish. All for under ten
pounds. Just going to give it a try.
Nice and crunchy, toasting the bread has made really all the difference. It is delicious.
you have the goat cup, it really kind of brings out the flavor, it is fresh, it is such a
great way to spend ten pounds. I hope you enjoy this recipe, and I hope to see you again
on my Tasty Tenner Series.
