What's up guys it's AConnCep here and today I have a different kind of video. I wanna
talk about the price of Xbox Live Gold and why it's not free. A lot of people always
complain about paying for the service, but don't always think of what that money is needed
for. They say "why should I have to pay for connectivity on Xbox that's free on a computer?"
When you really think of what you're getting with a subscription to Xbox Live, it makes
sense to pay. As of 2014 Xbox live is powered by 300,000 servers. Think about the costs
to run all those servers. With the release of the Xbox one, we now have access to more
services on our console, like Skype. These new services require more servers. Xbox one
has always been known for it's reliability, and with all these extra servers, its more
reliable and lag-free then ever. Our money allows them to continue to improve the service.
We can get DLC earlier and get more exclusives with this subscription. Just months ago, the
console war was between the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and tons of people compared the online
service. Xbox 360 needed the same subscription while the Playstation Network on PS3 was free.
Numerous people said that they had a better online experience and less lag on their Xbox,
and this is due to the online service that only Xbox users pay for. With the new release
of the Xbox One, game developers have access to use dedicated servers for their games,
meaning a better online experience for the players. Compare that to a PC with steam,
and the experience changes entirely. A Steam game is connected through a standard internet
connection to a developer's server. These don't run the same way as Xbox Live does and
every 3rd party developer for Steam has different servers for their games. Game integration
is not nearly as strong on steam; games can't connect to each other and you just don't get
the same unified experience as you do with Xbox Live. These are all great services, but
Xbox Live stands out not only for it's price tag, but also for its features, power, and
game integration.
