So I started running
Track and Field about a month
to two months into my freshmen year
My name is Josh Watson and I'm the junior goaltender for the RIT hockey team
I'm Greg Noice, junior defensemen
Hi! I'm Melissa Bromley. I play on women's hockey team here at RIT.
We practice from 4-6 every day and
and typically have two games every weekend.
The work outs are really hard
But the coaches had such a wealth of knowledge that
I always trusted them.
So Club Sports are a really awesome way to get involved with athletics at RIT without it being the whole commitment of varsity sports. You still get to play other teams and travel. You drive yourself which is really cool because you get to road trip with your friends.
But I'm involved with the Field Hockey club
and we placed
third in the state this year which is really exciting.
We practice about once a week, games once a week and it's a great way to get involved and meet a lot of people.
So I got involved with intramural hockey, actually one of fraternity brothers played on a team when he was younger a
couple years ago.
And he said "hey, we're getting a team together"
They brought back the league.
We got a captain
and registered the team and add players. You sign up, its free
and it's a lot of fun.
Overall, there's a ton of support in everything. If you need athletic support, you've got that, best trainers here. You you need academic support,
you've got
all the outlets that you possibly could need.
This is a true student athlete here at RIT.
We do have about seven hundred student athletes on the campus at this point in
time and those students actually have a higher average accumulative GPA then the
rest of the student population.
So doing a sport in college is a really good idea because you will probably meet
some of your best friends on a sport team.
Just like any other organizations that you are apart of. I know some of my bestfriends
I dive with and are also on my swim team.
My teammates are really passionate. Everyone needs to be passionate.
I'm involved with Tiger Den and stuff like that. We try to get everyone out to different events and stuff like that.
One of the big things we do
are the Tiger Den events.
Each sport team
gets one event where they want the most support. So it could just be their biggest rival,
a championship game,
and we try and promote them as best we can to get as many people there.
We have some of the best fans in the nation, I'd say. Especially at our hockey games. We always get a good crowd at our games.
I'd have to say the atmosphere the fans bring. It's amazing coming out to the packed rink every night
and having guys there even for the warmups. We have a complete packed rink
and it's just fun playing for them.
I know it's more fun playing here than on the road.
Just playing in front of ten, twenty people.
When you can count the people in the stands during a game, it's not something
you're looking forward to. Playing in front of the fans and the community is definitely a bonus.
I love the overall experience and I hope you guys check out a sport here!
