Have you got an unquenchable thirst,
a sudden loss of weight?
Are you tired, run down or
are you lacking in energy?
Have you got any wounds,
bruises or cuts that seem to take longer than normal to heal?
Do you frequently get up in the night to go to the bathroom?
Have you got blurred vision, or do you see floaters?
Then have I got some bad news, because you could be diabetic!
These are all symptoms of high sugar.
Don't panic, apparently there are 30 million people,
who while living their lives are
not aware that they could be diabetic!
Diabetes is classified to be at epidemic levels,
60 million in Europe alone, and it's not expected to get better,
in fact, it is expected to get worse, much worse.
How can that be? I hear you ask.
Well, as the symptoms come on slowly,
they are not noticed until it's too late,
and by then the damage has been done.
Oh yes, if that sugar keeps increasing in your blood
you can be assured that your nerves and blood vessels
are going to be damaged.
Did you realise that there are around 180,000 people
who die a year because of diabetes, of course not,
because it isn't explained like that,
but how many people have had
strokes, heart disease or high blood pressure?
And a lot of that is due to diabetes.
Now, although, what I am saying is dramatic but true, there is some good news.
90% of us are type 2 diabetic, so what does that mean?
It means you have a chance to improve
and prevent it from advancing to type 1,
and if not, that means that your pancreas
has stopped producing insulin, and you
are going to have to inject insulin for the rest of your life.
