I lost both legs: I lost one at the scene and then they took the other one in surgery.
And I didn't know if I was going to walk again.
They were getting my legs ready for a prosthetic, so it kinda played with your mind a little bit,
you're getting a little nervous about it and I remember saying
'Hey this is going to be a big surgery tomorrow. Do me a favor, wiggle your toes for me.'
Yeah, it's like crossing your fingers, wiggle your toes and do it because you can.
Wiggle Your Toes has been built to help
individuals that have suffered limb loss and their families and their rehab and recovery.
We modify homes, we do a lot of planning, we provide referrals for the practitioners for physical therapy.
Just walking into a hospital room as a bilateral above-knee amputee
and to show them that I can walk and talk to them about what I'm doing:
chasing the kids, playing golf, traveling, and just living my lifestyle
like it did before. I'm doing just about everything I used to do.
Yeah, it gives them a lot of hope and inspiration.
