Iran has not a positive image in the West. But what is the reality?
We decided to make our own feedback about Iran from our own experiences.
And therefore we visited Iran in 2012.
We travelled a large circle aroun Persia.
We started in Tehran, swam in the Caspian Sea, visited holy city Mashhad,
oasis Tabas, desert city Yazd, city of poets Shiraz and mythical Persepolis,
Persian Gulf and beautiful Esfahan. First things first...
First time in Persia
Now we are a short walk from telecabin to Tochal and we are eating pizza.
It seems that telecabin to Tochal doesn't work so we are going to walk.
Tochal - telecabin station, 2500 m.
Iranians are probably big fans of outdoor gyms.
Originally we wanted to travel from Tehran under Damavand and then went on Damavand, but weather in the mountains was very bad.
Therefore we decided to go directly to the Caspian Sea.
Maybe I will go home alone :-)
I have been fond of local beer, mainly cherry and pineapple flavor. Now we are drinking cherry beer for breakfast.
I'm all bitten, so I think that I will lie at Bulovka Hospital with malaria.
Journey to Mashhad.
We have been in a huge complex of mosques - tomb of Imam Reza, the eighth Imam - the bigest holy shrine in Iran. The second Mekka.
Pure Iranian kebab, no fastfood!
We have just arrived from Mashhad in Tabas by totally full train.
Now we are going to Tabas town. There should be some nice garder. We have all day for Tabas. Tomorrow morning on 04:55 we are going to travel to Yazd by train. I hope that the train will be better because we have VIP tickets.
Now we are in Tabas in complex named Bagh-e Golshan. It's very marvelous garden with big mosque. The garden is very very nice, here is great relax under palm trees, it's worth it.
We are saying goodbye to Tabas. We will sleep here at playgroung and about on 03:00 morning we will go by train to Yazd.
The train from Tabas to Yazd is luxury. We have a bed and we have slept about three hours.
These are Towers of silence, where Zoroastrians buried their members (until 1950).
Towers of silence, Yazd
We finish in Yazd and tonight we are going by bus to Shiraz. I must say that Yazd is winner for me for the time being. Very nice city, mainly the old earthen city is awesome.
We are enjoying delicious banana cocktail. There is no mistake.
We have arrived from Yazd to Shiraz today on 03:00 AM. We have slept in the park.
Tomb of poets Hafez
We are in Shiraz and throughout the morning we were arranging extension of our visas. We made it! We have extensed our visas.
I have the first melon this year.
Here is half million banknotes.
From Shiraz we went on a day trip to rock reliefs Naqsh-e Rostam and Naqsh-e Rajab and mythical Persepolis.
Bushehr - Persian Gulf
Former British consulate
We are on the beach in Persian Gulf in Bushehr. Today is Friday (like Sunday for us, non-working day) and during the day city was empty.
Now about six seven o'clock afternoon here are all people of Bushehr on the grass near the beach. It's starting to live here.
Behind us people are smoking water pipes.
Unfortunately our Iran trip are going to finish.
Now we are in Esfahan the second bigest square of the World - Imam square - and we are going to look at the mosque located in the corner of the square.
Unfortunately it's time to bye Esfahan and the whole Iran. I don't want to go home. Tomorrow we are going to Tehran by bus and then we will fly home.
Hello, I'm Pat. I didn't buy Mat because I hadn't enough money. But I will go back for Mat maybe for the year.
The last day in Iran we visited Behest-e Zahra. It is south suburb of Tehran where is located huge cemetery victims of Iraq-Iran war and here is buried Ayatollah Khomeini, guru of Islamic republic of Iran.
Ankara (Turkey) - Airport
I like Iran. I like mosques but sometimes there were a lot of them because Zdenda wanted to see all mosques and my legs hurted.
But I had a good training for Prague marathon that I will run for three days :-)
Well, about life of Iranian women - in my oppinion it isn't so bad like people in Europe and Czech republic think.
I have got a skirt only on half of my head and it was OK. But one day a policeman said me that my ankle mustn't be seen. It didn't like it.
And I didn't like a swimming in clothes. Otherwise I liked Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea, Esfahan and Tabas.
Now we are enjoying the first beer after three weeks and I must say that I don't like it. If I stopped liking beer, it is not good! But maybe it is only by Turkey's Efes beer, it was terrible at the beginning of our trip.
The second attempt will be in Vienna with Pilsner Urquell and I think that it would be better :-)
Out Iran trip was awesome. Unfortunately we weren't in the mountains due to bad weather. But
But we traveled a large circle around Iran. We see Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf, Mashhad, Shiraz, Esfahan... all very nice.
My Iranian winner is Yazd, the old earthen city of Yazd. Of course Persepolis was marvelous, swimming in the Persian Gulf too.
I've forgotten to say that I bought Pat in Iran and I must go back for Mat :-)
I would like to mention that I want to go back to Iran - west part of Iran, Kurdistan and Tabriz.
The movie was filmed in Iran in 2012.
