Mercylink is a manufacturer of baby items
and the name of the brand is called Baby M.
When I was pregnant for my first child in 2004,
I had to travel about 400 kilometres looking for the nearest maternity and baby store.
So this ignited my passion to start a baby store.
When we started manufacturing our products,
we needed to expand the reach to our customers,
and I didn’t know how to go about it.
So one of my clients, a customer as well,
talked to me about Google AdWords and told me how to go about it.
Before we came into contact with the AdWords communication technique,
it was difficult for us to get people to know what we have.
We were not communicating to the right people.
With Google AdWords I had more enquiries.
I was receiving calls, enormous number of calls, every day.
And surprisingly my sales rose
from about 100,000 monthly to about 15 million naira per month.
Placement targeting, it’s an amazing functionality on Google AdWords.
Keyword targeting.
Google Analytics, which helps you evaluate your traffic:
where they are coming from, what are they doing on your site,
what are the fall off and help implement conversion tracking.
These are amazing tools.
And another great tool on Google Adwords, is the reporting functionality.
Africa, as you know, is an emerging market when it comes to internet use.
When I was starting I was a bit sceptical,
because I was wondering if people will be used to shopping and buying online.
But I can tell you fact-fully that my fears have been removed.
80 percent of my sales actually come from the online market.
Google search engine, it’s an amazing tool
and it is one platform that it’s very possible for you to meet people at the point of search.
My advice to my fellow colleagues,
I will tell them it’s Google AdWords or nothing.
