Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you my tips and techniques
to properly bridle your horse with a English bridle. I'm going to go over with you a few
of the different types of bits that you can use for your English horse. You can definitely
gage what is going to work best for you based on your horses level of skill level and either
if you are working with a trainer they may send you down the path at which bit you need
to use. You also want to gage what amount of control you need, how soft or how hard
your horses mouth is. So this is a loose rein bit as pretty fat twisted wire. This is a
moderate control bit. You can also get a loose rein that would have a smooth snaffle in the
middle here. A snaffle is anything that is joined in the middle. Such as this is. So
this would give you a little bit more control then something that is smooth would. This
is a smooth D ring snaffle so this would be a horse that is either young in training or
has a really soft mouth. Cause it is a nice smooth snaffle. This is a full cheek snaffle
and this one has a little bit of a fat twist in the middle. Full cheek would give you a
little bit better control over your horse. This having a twist is definitely more of
a sever bit. This is a full cheek double twisted wire. So this is for your horse that either
is really hard in the mouth or needs a lot more control. It is a little more severe,
it puts a little bit more pressure on the bars of the mouth to get the horses to stop
or to listen a little bit better to you. This is a kimberwick you can see here it has the
hook. So this actually would have a curb chain to it, a curb chain actually goes under the
horses chin. This is a little bit more control bits for either your horse who is competing
in a more strenuous event. So those are some of the different bits that you can use for
your English horse.
