Hello How are you??
It's me ROCA once again
Well now I'm going to tell you about...
The Phone Interview, I know it's been a while since I made a video
But I've been so busy and I didn't have the time
And I'm sorry because I said that this Vlog was going to be for us Mexicans
Because there are like only 2 about Mexican CRP's, so here it goes...
The Phone Interview. Well first we have to wait until we get the e-mail
It says if we made it or not to the next phase, the one after they check the CV's
Not everybody makes it after first round (CV's)
Once we get the e-mail after a long wait
We have to be extremely patient, keep that in mind
I waited almost a month and a half to get that e-mail, A MONTH AND A HALF!!
And the worst part is that I'm part of a group on Facebook
And there you can meet almost everybody that is applying for the CRP
And they got their e-mail on August 15th
But not ME!!!
I was the only one without the e-mail
So that made the wait much harder
Because then you start thinking like: Oh no, I didn't make it, they didn't like me!
Even if you didn't make it, they must send you an e-mail so that you know you failed
And even you knowing that, you keep thinking that you didn't make it, that you're not good for Disney
After that day, you go back to the positive side of life to keep on waiting for that e-mail. COME ON!!!
Time went by...
I got my e-mail 15 days after the rest of the group
It was one horrible wait, but it was completely worth it
The e-mail said that I had been selected for the Phone Interview, 15 minutes in English, and it had some info
Now the Interview
As I said, 15 minutes in English Now the Interview
As I said, 15 minutes in English
I had to call the Ally. I know that in other countries participants get the call, but here in Mexico you have to make the call
to a cellphone from Puebla
My interview was scheduled on September 3th, at 9:30pm
The Interview is simple
When I say simple I'm talking about the questions, pretty simple and normal questions. I was asked 6 questions
3 in Spanish and 3 in English
But...
They may not be a lot of questions but you need to be prepared to answer them
So I will give you some tips I used to get ready!!
I found these advice on Disney Official Blogs, on previous world wide CRP's videos
The clue is to find this kind of information to get prepared
What I found was, first of all TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!
Of course it's a serious interview, but it's not the same to be at an office with the interviewer
that at your living room with your computer or your phone, it's not the same
So... That's what I did. I took it seriously. And the Disney advice is "Dress to Impress"
Just like if you were to meet the interviewer. Get your suit on or your dress if you're a girl
For us guys it's easier just get your khakis on or your suit
Disney says that if you do this you will get like a motivation boost and stay focused on your goal
The next advice...
Choose a place that you can make your own
But not your room, even though that it is yours, it's not formal in any way
And I know you can get pretty comfortable in your bed, just like me, but it's not helpful
So I chose my dining table. I got everything off of it and left only my computer, a notebook and some Disney stuff
I got an American Flag Mickey of the Vinylmation Series, pretty cool
Also a Disney On Ice merchandise bag, that was the only thing I could buy
Where you can see Mickey and Minnie
And right after my interview I decided to listen to Magic Kingdom's Wishes Soundtrack
I really like the first part of the show and I have the song so I decided to listen to it and believe me it kinda gets you pumped
You need to be excited, happy, focused and of course you need to stay calm, I know it's hard, It was hard for me but you need to stay that way
What else...??
Let everyone know that you won't be available for at least half an hour
So they don't even think about calling you, also turn off your cellphone
Not on silent mode, turn it off!! That way you won't get distracted at all.
Remember to tell everybody about your availability.
Now, if you can be alone at your house, do it. I told my mom to go with the neighbor for at least 30 min.
And that helped me to focus more and to stay calm, so if you can, go for it!!
So let's go back to the interview
I dialed the number and a woman answered the phone, she was the Mexican Ally of Disney, her name is Maria Jose
I know that a lot of us applying for the program know her, and if not, believe me you will, she's so great
Then she answered the phone and just said: Thank you for calling on time, let's begin with your interview
The first 3 questions were in Spanish: Do you have a valid passport?; Have you ever worked for Disney? and do you have any experience in Food and Beverage?
Then the final 3 in English: Why do you wanna work for Disney and Why are you so interested in this program?; Tell me your strengths and the last one How are you going to Represent Culturally your country?(Mexico)
That was the tough one, a little bit hard to explain and get things together so she could understand me, but it was good!!
After that she just asked if I had questions and then she said that in the middle of September we would get our results weather we made it or not to the next round.
If I made it through, the Face 2 Face interview would take place at Puebla.
The interview ended and it lasted 9:50 minutes. I know how much it lasted because I recorded the audio on my computer so I could check on later how I did.
So that was pretty much the interview, it's hard talking about self control. Like you know you need to stay calm but it's something extremely important and something that keeps you away from your dream and that is what makes it hard. You need to breath and relax.
But you need to stay calm. I know from a good resource that a lot of people don't get to the Face2Face soy keep calm and give everything you have!!
The interview is pretty normal, pretty relaxed, not intimidating at all. The Ally is great, and so cool even though she has to interview like 200 people!! Just imagine how tough that must be!!
So, get ready if you receive the e-mail. Relax, breathe, make it yours and you will make it.
If I make it to the next round, I will upload another video about Face2Face, so fingers crossed!!
So that's it for today, I hope this vlog helps you understand a little bit more about the process here in Mexico. Please like, dislike, subscribe, comment!! Take care and I'll see you next time!! Take care.
