Labour governed us for most of the last 13years. In Westminster,
Labour let the banks reek havoc, they lied to us on Iraq,
they introduced Student tuition fees and they doubled the tax rate for the poorest.
In Wales, Labour say they're different
but it's a Labour-Plaid government that is letting Wales down
On our economy, on the NHS
and on education. I
and the Welsh Liberal Democrats believe that Wales can do better.
It's worth remembering in the debate on Welsh tuition fees,
that far too many Welsh children their life chances
have be decided far too early in life b ecause they have been let down by a school
system, before they can even consider going to university.
This will be a top priority for the Liberal Democrats.
Of course, I know that many students will be disappointed
on the decision made in London to tuition fees
but fees were first introduced by Labour and they commissioned the Browne Report that
gave little comfort but It should not be forgotten either.
I was disappointed that the Liberal Democrats
were not in a position to insist on their manifesto commitment
but I was pleased that all the Liberal Democrat MP's
honoured their election pledge and voted against top-up fees.
We will strengthen Welsh Universities and Higher Education by:-
Introducing a Welsh Students' Charter that guaranteed students
receive adequate levels of service. Paying any additional tuition fees
or graduate contributions above the present levels
for students from Wales, wherever they choose to study in the UK.
Ensure that everyone has access to higher education by paying the fees
and living costs of 'looked-after' children
And developing equity between full and part-time
students by ensuring fair access to grants.
A weak economy, underfunded schools
and an NHS that costs more but delivers less.
Do Labour and Plaid really deserve another 5years?
If you too believe that Wales can do better. Then use both your votes to vote Liberal Democrats
