Sandra, you took part in our art project and sent us your work of art. Tell us about it!
Well, this is Snowden's face made up of 2.100 ironing beads. It took me about six hours to finish this.
Why ironing beads?
I work at a youth centre and the kids play with them a lot. That's how I came up with the idea.
How many kids helped you with your work? - No one did!
You did everything by yourself? -- Yes.
What were your thoughts when you were putting together all those beads?
I thought I was getting crazy. My neck hurt a lot. But I said to myself: He deserves this effort.
Ralf, you have sent us Snowden-cufflinks. Why cufflinks?
I would call them "Edward Snowden to go". I believe in equal rights for everyone. The NSA is spying on every one of us. Thus, with a little microphone inside, it's kind of meant in a funny way.
This seems familiar from spy-films. What do you think Edward Snowden would think of these cufflinks with his face on them?
Good question. I'm not sure if it's just the case with the cufflinks, but looking at the exhibition as a whole I'm wondering what he would think of all this! I hope he'd like it!
What would you tell him if you met him in person?
Edward, don't be afraid and well done!
Sonja, tell us something about your work of art.
It was a difficult process. First I built Angela Merkel and Barack Obama as puppets and I wanted to put them into balloons.
But after some hours the balloons would have been flat. No one can be free. But we can let Snowden live in freedom on this planet. That's why I have drawn this balloon.
And the corks -- that's where we had a toast on him.
I'm a huge Pep Pop Art fan and from an early age began working with "cut collages": newspaper and magazine clippings that are put on canvas together with other small items.
In this case a camera and a mobile phone.
I just came up with the idea and I handed it in to be part of this exhibition
You wrote the word "carelessness" on the mobile phone with drawing pins. Why?
It was a funny coincidence. I've had this phone for a long time and have used it in another art project of mine.
It occurred to me when I was thinking about the US and US policy.
I have always believed that the sole purpose of intelligence agencies was surveillance.
Someone or something is always being kept under surveillance.
Hello, Yvonne. You designed a skateboard deck for our Snowden art exhibition. Why a skateboard?
For me skateboarding is freedom. That's also what I associate with Edward Snowden.
Also music means freedom to me. These are pieces of a sound card and a diagram from a small PC the size of a credit card.
I decided to take part because we should support all whistle-blowers around the world. I don't know him [Snowden] personally but I admire what he has achieved.
He put himself in harm's way. I am proud and thankful to have taken part in this exhibition.
I really like it here at the parliament -- you can skateboard outside: there is a mini ramp and low benches.

Pascal, you have handed in a wonderful picture.
What did your parents say when they saw the picture?
It's not easy to be creative in such an environment. But that's the good thing about this exhibition: people passing by stall, take a look and hopefully feel inspired by it.
Does it make you feel proud?
Yes, thanks!
What do you think of the exhibition?
I love the whole thing. It's a great opportunity to get the message across. The works of art are great, too.
I am really impressed by the positive energy and how happy people are with the exhibition.
I think it's important to convey what this man [Snowden] has achieved. To have a symbolic figure that embodies the idea!
Wilhelm, you have crafted this metallic sculpture. Tell us about it!
I have named the piece "Man of steel". It changes its colour when light shines on it from different angles.
How long did it take to finish the sculpture?
About four hours, including all welding and grinding. the engravings only took me two and a half hours.
Your work is called "Man of steel"? What would you say to Edward Snowden if you met him in person?
That he knew what was getting into: He sacrificed his future, his life and his freedom. This deserved great appreciation.
Maja, tell us about your work of art!
I have worked on it together with my brother. He supported me during the whole process.
How did you pick out the quotes? Are those newspaper quotes?
I searched "surveillance" and browsed through the news headlines.
I distinguish between quotes about the actual revelations and those exemplifying the attempts at "whitewashing" by the government.
Thanks and say hello to your brother!
Bianca, you have sent us a digital work of art. What is it about?
It was a spontaneous idea and relatively easy to do. I asked various people what they would do with this Snowden mask.
Would you show your face or hide it behind the mask? I then took pictures of what they did with it.
What was their reaction?
To some it seemed familiar, but not in a Snowden-related setting. So I told them about my project and the "Snowden art" exhibition. In the end they all wanted to have the pictures.
I named this one "untitled" because I don't want to confine anyone's thoughts when they look at it.
Actually, it should be called "in little slices". That's how we have been finding out about all these mass surveillance activities.
The text was typed with my mom's old typing machine and is actually the PGP Key.
I am a Pirate Party member and something orange always needs to be there.
This topic has made the headlines. My idea was to write down all the buzz words associated with Edward Snowden.
How many newspapers have you scanned for your work of art?
Only three. Many quotes could be taken from various other articles.
I put plastic film on a mirror, so the observer may ask himself: What's my role in this Snowden affair?
Can I relate to him? Would I have done the same?
I want people to take a good look at themselves and assess their relation to Edward Snowden and his actions.
"Lights out" at the Snowden art exhibition at the parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia.
When we started with our Snowden art project and asked people to send us their works I never would have thought it would end up being something that big.
This is overwhelming. We are here today to commemorate what Edward Snowden has done for every one of us.
Thanks to all the artists that participated in this project and to all staff members that made this possible.
I am looking forward to what the future might bring. Let's roll our sleeves up -- there is a lot at stake!
