LD 8.
Standard LD 8 is in the domain of learning and development.
LD 8 is broken into 3 star levels.
Remember, if you're applying for the 4 star designation you need
to meet the criteria in 3 star. The same applies for 5 star.
5 star has to first meet the criteria for both 4 and 3 star levels.
LD 8 states: the program uses daily routines to support children's learning and development.
To demonstrate this, for all star levels we ask for a copy of a lesson plan
or schedule that demonstrates the criteria. Keep in mind that the whole group activities,
like circle time, should be age-appropriate. Always label your evidence
and make it easy for the reviewer to find. Highlighting where you want
reviewers to look is also a very helpful practice. If a schedule or
lesson plan does not adequately indicate the criteria,
programs must submit a written description or indicate on their schedule or lesson plan
when these daily routines occur. Evidence will be reviewed with
age groups and classroom in mind.
Programs with multiple classrooms and/or multiple age groups may need to submit multiple lesson plans or schedules.
At the 3 star level, the lesson plan or schedule should demonstrate the criteria listed in these 4 bullet points.
A program will pass this standard at the 3 star level
if they meet 3 out of 4 of the bullet points.
At the 4 star level, in addition to the criteria for 3 star, the lesson plan or schedule
needs to demonstrate the criteria in both of these bullet points.
At the 5 star level, in addition to the criteria for the 4 and 3 star levels,
the following criteria in these 4 bullet points needs to be documented in the lesson plan or schedule.
Again, 3 out of 4 will pass this criteria.
