This video shows you how to scan with your HP printer using the Embedded Web Server in
Windows 8.
In this video we will use a mouse to select items. If you are using a touch-screen computer
you will tap the selection whenever the video says click.
Your networked HP printer includes an Embedded Web Server, or EWS. The EWS provides access
to useful tools, including scanning. To use the EWS, your printer must be connected to
a network through a wired or wireless connection. You must also know your printer's IP address
to access the EWS. One way to find your printer's IP address is to print a Network Configuration
Page. Because printing a Network Configuration Page is unique for each printer, we will not
provide those instructions here. From your computer, go to the Desktop. If
you are in the Start screen, click the bottom left corner of your screen.
Open the web browser of your choice. Type the printer's IP address into the browser's
address bar and then press Enter on your keyboard. The Embedded Web Server will open.
Click on the Information tab or the Scan tab. Click Webscan.
If needed, you can adjust the Quality Settings. Then click Start Scan or Scan.
Once the scanned image opens, you can right-click on the image and save it to the folder of
your choice. You can find additional helpful videos at
