Hello, and welcome to the Watson Library.
Today I'm going to show you how to access the library's subscription databases remotely.
All current Metropolitan Museum of Art staff and volunteers may access the majority of
the library's subscription databases remotely.
This means that you may access our online resources from any computer outside the Museum
with an Internet connection, including your home computer, your laptop, or another institution's computer.
To get started, connect to Watsonline at library.metmuseum.org.
Do a title search in Watsonline for the name of the electronic resource or database,
for example JSTOR.
You can also limit your search to E-Resources by using the dropdown menu on the right.
Then click on the Search button.
In the list of results, click on the link for your desired resource.
In this case, it's the first result.
In the bibliographic record for the resource, click on the hyperlink directly underneath
"Link to:"
You will be prompted to enter the same credentials you use to request books, your Last Name and
Museum ID Number. Then hit the submit button.
You will now be able to search within the electronic resource.
Please note that a few of the library's electronic resources cannot be accessed remotely due to licesne agreements.
When this occurs, it should be noted in the bibliographic record with a note that says, "On-site use only."
If you need remote access and do not have a library record, please contact Lisa Harms at lisa.harms@metmuseum.org.
Thank you for watching this video.
