Hello, i'm Bruce Zimmerman Host of the Open Line Garden Show and Certified Horticulturalist
for Rittenhouse.ca.
Today we're going to take a look at the Ice and Snow Mat,
the Thermo Heated Hose,
and the All Season Heated Hose Cover.
Let's start with the Ice and Snow Mat.
The Ice and Snow mat plugs into a standard 110 outlet.
It has a fifteen-foot cord.
It uses forty watts per square foot
and has a built-in trip at twenty seven milliamps. It weighs seventeen pounds,
cannot be rolled.
So on the off season you're going to have to store it flat.
It is thirty six and a half inches long, thirty three inches wide
about a quarter-inch high.
I can see this being used both residentially
and commercially.
It is ETL and CETL
listed as well as
CSA Certified.
It's a good Idea.
Again both residential
and commercial.
Next we'll take a look at the Thermo Heated Hose.
The Thermo Heated Hose
is a sixty-foot, five eights inch, double walled rubber hose.
It has solid brass ends.
This end has the extra
grip on it so that
it's easier to take on and off
with your gloves on. Particularly important at that time of year.
It's thermostaticly controlled
and therefore when the temperatures do rise
it will turn off and then when they get cold again it turns back on.
If you're using this
heavily daily then leave it plugged in.
If not
then I would unplug it.
It takes twenty minutes to warm up. So have a coffee first
and then you can go out and clean the barn,
the dog kennel,
or filled the hot tub.
So it's a twenty minute lead time,
maybe even a glass of wine
that's before the hot tub.
Thermo Heated Hose a really good idea.
The next one is
the All Season Heated Hose hanger.
Now it's a very heavy-duty nylon
with a very heavy-duty nylon zipper.
What this does
is it will heat your regular hose. It goes on over top
of a regular hose hanger.
You can put a hundred feet of hose on here.
And this one is five eighths inch fifty-foot.
Now the tighter you wind this the better this unit works. It has been tested
to
minus thirty degrees Fahrenheit
or minus thirty four Celsius.
It's simply
plugs in.
The one thing you should know about this
is that this exposed area of hose is going to be frozen. because it sits
outside. So do not leave it attached
to your tap.
Not a good idea.
