Another popular form of picking and a little more complex is referred to as Travis picking
which is named after Meryl Travis a great guitarist from the twenties and thirties.
Who developed a picking technique, hence with his last name and what you're doing with this
is using a down stroke and then picking in melody at the same time. And you're kind of
alternating between the two, so a very basic form of Travis picking is this. So basically
what I'm doing here is picking the low note, then with my fingers picking the two melodies
strings here. Then going to the next base note which is also E on the D string, picking
the same two strings and then going to the A which in this case I'm playing the B note.
And then picking these two strings, so a basic form of that up to speed would sound like
this.
