work because they only alienate your customer. The goal of the collection call is to establish
trust and determine why the customer has not paid.
Therefore if the customer is not willing to pay in full you want to understand the objection.
The objection could simply be because they do not have an income stream or they simply
do not view your bill as a priority.
Good listening skills should help you understand the objection. Always stay calm and act professional.
Remember it is not personal. It is simply a business matter.
Most people who cannot pay in full will explain their situation if you are polite and ask
the right questions. Once you understand the situation you can provide solutions and work
towards a payment solution that benefits both parties. Help the customer to identify financial
sources for resolving the debt.
Once you help the consumer find a solution they will feel relief and payment will be
satisfied.
