It's already six doing months since that the sequence
of the known Nintendo fighting franchise received the announcement of the 4th title
Super Smash Bros. for WiiU/Nintendo 3DS, as the title suggests
will be a double release for the latest platforms of the giant Japanese industry.
As usual, newcomers in the series have been revealed
such as veterans ... but the final roster hasn't been fully shown to the public,
and this leaves room for quite speculation, requests and wishes that your dreams
become reality with the presence of your favorite character in this famous
Crossover DreamMatch.
Unsurprisingly gamers already do this even after the release
of the previous title in the series ...
is this way with all the fighting franchises like Street Fighter
or Marvel vs. Capcom, and is no different with Smash Bros.. ... fans already had their
Wishlist ready since the day that Super Smash Bros. Brawl, for Wii, in 2008,
had its cast completely confirmed and was the stores for sales.
I always found it somewhat premature,
judging by the time that people did this .. but now,
with the new given circumstances, informations said by the director himself, Masahiro Sakurai,
during interviews, and the announcement of the game
officially done, I think it's time to also start exposing my wishes
of characters for this new Smash Bros,
... between popular characters, requisitioned, and others not so much...
In this video I'll give reasons to justify the fitting of the character
in the game and tell why I' d like it to appear in the roster ....
I'm not here to judge duties of Sakurai,
or even try to make people think like me.
Sure, you can agree or disagree,
leave your comments below ...
but that hardly would change my wishlist,
..... I just hope you enjoy the compilation of reasons and characters
that'll bring you this video.
Get ready for the Brawl!
Who's the girl next door living in the haunted mansion?
Of course you know who she is, Ashley!
Or at least I assume you know,
if you played the WarioWare series, present in various
Nintendo platforms, especially on handhelds. Ashley is the little witch who lives in Diamond City,
and one of my most desired characters to the Smash4 roster.
Since Wario was announced for Smash Bros. Brawl,
representing his own franchise in particular, detached from any
commitment with the Mario franchise, this opened up a wide range of possibilities
for more representatives from the series of the rude fat with garlic breath.
While some people still prefer characters who are already struggling by nature as Young Cricket,
or the ninjas Kat & Ana
I'm particularly inclined with the possibility to see a flexible character
however, that never entered before or is intended to step into battlefield.
Ashley is one of these kind of character; ... knowing the fighting standard of the Smash Bros.,
and the creativity of Sakurai's team,
involving it's presence in previous games,
she might have offensive spells such as the famous "Pantalones Giganticus!"
as one her attacks ... or even attacks based on her mini-games in WarioWare;
Ashley has the perfect atmosphere to be explored ...
she's a girl with a cute appeal, but contains a breakdown of general expectation,
showing that appearances can be deceiving...
a cold witch and with very serious mood.
Besides filling the gap over the female cast of Smash Bros..
Can you imagine her Final Smash? Using her magic,
while becomes enraged with her white hair and red eyes like embers,
transforms her pet plant into a monster carnivorous plant,
throwing everyone out the stage with powerful attacks! Would be pretty cool, isn't it?
And if you say no, you're toast!
You have to admit...
despite the important role in the story development
from Subspace Emmissary
at least, of Bowser and Ganondorf in Brawl
Smash Bros. is a franchise with few villains.
I imagine that the demand is so incredibly big on the protagonists
of each franchise
that antagonists, or any other character are left out for not being as requested...
But this is a different case;
King K. Rool
is the most classic and iconic enemy of the Donkey Kong Island residents
and by far one of the most requested for Smash4!
Many believe that K. Rool, or even his minions Kremlings,
never would return to the DK Gorilla Series
by fault of impediments of rights under the characters of RareWare,
formerly the producer of the games of the Donkey Kong Country series,
which a few years ago was bought by Microsoft.
The absence of any reptile in Donkey Kong Country Returns,
just disappointed more people...
thinking that the fate of the Kremling Krew was the utter oblivion!
But wait...
everyone can still hope!
K. Rool and the Kremlings are of total property of Nintendo,
as well everything in the Donkey Kong Country series. There is no reason to worry!
Maybe some less important presence of K. Rool, after the leaving of Rare,
has passed unnoticed by you...
but he returned several times in games of GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS,
GameCube and Wii.
Even, he's strongly rumored as the final boss of the game that will be soon released:
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze!
So everyone can celebrate, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the crocodiles!
King K. Rool, besides adding more villainy to the vast cast of Smash Bros.,
also would bring humor as King Dedede, weight attacks as Bowser,
and a worthy rival for Donkey Kong!
I bet he'd love to see his former arch-nemesis in battle again!
Don't forget that he's a professional boxer, and wouldn't be so easily thrown out the ring,
well... or maybe he lets ...
by the way,
this gives us the perfect opportunity for our next character...
Little Mac, this name was repeated in the sellout crowd
of 1987's W.V.B.A. World Circuit!
Very well coached by Doc Louis,
the young boxer managed space in the hearts of fans
quickly with his sucess franchise,
that after the Arcades,
took root on home consoles like NES,
SNES,
and returning later with great reception in 2009 on Wii!
Imagine the presence of Little Mac in Smash Bros. isn't a difficult task,
he has made a small cameo as Assist Trophy in Brawl,
and with it the hope of the boxing lovers just grew!
Being a born fighter, facing any opponent in combat, either
featherweight or heavy weight, would be prepared even to dodge
the Fox's fast attacks, after a day of running with Doc around New York.
But I understand that many might ask:
How a boxer could join Smash Bros., a fighting game where
the attacks are so varied?
A boxer uses only his fists, right?
... Yes, it's correct!
But who said that limiting the practice of his sport would prevent Mac
to assert his presence in the game?
Simple things like objects used in the training scenes with Louis,
could be used in his moveset...
and we have seen magnificent examples of other franchises,
with more of a boxer with varied moveset in only 2D gameplay;
Sure, when it comes from our champion,
couldn't miss in his Final Smash, his signature move: the Star Uppercut!
putting in knockout anyone who dares to oppose between him and the victory!
I believe that even before K. Rool, Little Mac was the most requested character of the entire internet at this time.
Honestly, I hope it give results! I'm cheering for it!
Your worst nightmare!
That's it!
Who laughed mercilessly out of your fails when you out to a duck hunting season,
is one of my requested characters to the Smash4 roster!
Mr. Peepers,
as was said supposedly be his official name awhile ago,
the dog from Duck Hunt game,
with his diabolical laughter could finally make his triumphant return!
But why?!
He's just a dog!
Yes, he's a dog,
but with a whole iconic and cultural backstory about what he represents in video game history!
It's the Super Dog!
a very special dog...
his pedigree goes beyond the 8-Bit boundaries!
Not to mention that he's way more charismatic than any current Nintendo representative dog,
admit...
we're talking about personality and identity.
He's the original Nintendog!
Don't limite yourselves by view of sees him only as a common animal,
when in fact,
he can use his cartoon caricature to be able to perform feats that dogs usually wouldn't do,
as using a NES Zapper as a gun,
flying ducks as assistance to double jump,
and even Clay Pigeons as alternative projectiles, those from the
"Game C" mode from the original NES title. Besides everything, he could still use and
abuse of he fact to be a dog,
digging holes for opponents fall, bite, scratch and stuff!
If it is difficult for you to imagine a good moveset for Mr. Peepers,
see how Sakurai has achieved a great result for a simple
NES accessory like R.O.B.,
and characters without any base moves like Ice Climbers and Mr. Game & Watch.
Even with a more imposing character like Captain Falcon, which originally,
was only a spaceship driver racing,
was possible to create a good moveset all made from scratch.
Never doubt the creativity of the development team of Smash Bros.!
Actually, even Duck Hunt being one of my favorite oldschool titles,
I completely forgot to cogite him (Mr. Peepers) for Smash Bros. before,
or even to a later appearance...
after all, the franchise continues dead since the first title,
having only small cameos here and there,
and I completely understand that is hard to reinvent a simple game like duck hunting.
But the idea of bringing it to Smash Bros. gained strength and my
full approval, after I see the adaptation of Mr. Peepers, as a fighter in the fangame
Super Smash Bros. Crusade
which I highly recommend!
There you can check attacks that have mentioned here, and other
other much more creative that could be used in an official version...
may also see how good this ironic dog can go out himself into battle!
The Mr. Peepers' hunter instinct is tingling,
it's time to make him shine again, to laugh at K.O. of the opponents,
and the frustration of the player 2!
The hunt begins at Smash4!
And my last bet, a guest character, which I believe is the most
likely of all on my list,
is the insatiable devourer Pac-Man!
You should know that NAMCO Bandai is co-developing Smash4
along with Sakurai's Sora Ltda.
And that gives us the giant possibility of the yellow glutton enter the competition!
Maybe I'll need some counter-arguments to justify the
obvious presence of Pac-Man on my wishlist, besides I being a fan of the franchise,
but I see them all as very plausible and concrete.
Many people remind me that,
Masahiro Sakurai, said in an interview that
"won't give special consideration to the NAMCO characters in this game",
and due to misinterpretation,
most people already dismiss the possibility,
without even thinking right what this phrase can mean,
in fact,
I just look the one way this statement:
"Nintendo characters come first, let me work in peace!"
And that's it.
I strongly doubt that NAMCO would waste the opportunity to put their
beloved mascot in this game.
Not to mention the possibility of selling a few of million copies of the game that
would star the four major mascots of the gaming industry!
If you think Pac-Man is only a yellow pizza missing a slice,
your are roundly mistaken.
It's true that his representation in 8-Bit games, in majority, was simple and circular,
and his games are remembered by dark mazes, infested of ghosts...
but of course that Pac-Man never limited himself only to this type of interpretation,
platform games were successful, even in the 8-Bit era, advancing to
Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis, with Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures
and Pac-In-Time!
But surely the most famous and iconic of all was the Pac-Man World series,
that introduced Pac in a 3D platform world, without losing his real identity of the Arcades.
It is also a fact that Pac-Man World 1, 2 and 3 had
had all the spotlight focused in Playstation One and Playstation 2 versions,
but it was pure fluke,
since all games from this magnificent sub-series were also
present on Nintendo platforms, and no special marketing was done on Sony platforms.
Besides from all involvement of NAMCO Bandai over the years with
Nintendo, until this day with Smash4, Pac-Man made history in
the 8-Bit Nintendo console, being one of the first big hits
from Arcades, getting a home version that recieved an incredible reception at the time,
and quickly becoming best seller! The NES was the huge sucess that was,
not only by 1st party games,
but also by heavy 3rd games, like Pac-Man.
Pac-Man already has intimacy with Nintendo platforms, had exclusive games
that were well accepted
and one of them even produced by Shigeru Miyamoto himself, creator of Mario and Link,
who has Pac-Man as one of his favorite characters of all time.
And speaking of Italian, how about refresh the memory?
and review the Mario Kart Arcade GP series, which is about to get
the third title in the west, and marks the meeting of Super Mario and Pac-Man franchises on the racetracks.
The Yellow One has several skills to be explored for a fighting game,
even in his recent appearance in Street Fighter X Tekken,
as exclusive character of Playstation 3 version,
riding a Mokujin robot,
most of his moves are based in attacks from the Pac-Man World series,
like Butt-Bounce,
Flip-Kick and Pac-Dot Shoot.
But of course, he doesn't need a machine to go into combat,
I think it was just added in the game, to make him equal
in size of opponents like Ryu and Kazuya;
In Smash Bros., he wouldn't have the same problems against mascots of his size.
The marketing on Pac-Man in 2013, and in recent times, is huge...
he went through a reboot recently
gaining new design,
new friends,
and a whole new universe!
Without losing the charisma and the shine he had before, a thing that I really
admired by NAMCO's part; subtly modified for younger audiences,
although there's still some contrary opinions about it.
There's a new cartoon at Disney XD,
which shows all the details of the post-reboot universe,
introducing new skills and interesting Power Ups to Pac-Man,
or Pacster,
could use in Smash Bros..
And we also can't forget the game Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures,
that already was released for various platforms, including the Wii U,
which like the cartoon,
is completely immersed in the post-reboot universe...
besides bringing back Pac-Man in the old gameplay system from Pac-Man World,
also shows us that the relationship with Nintendo still quite strong
since there's a 3DS exclusive version that was specially developed in sidescrolling.
If all the references and new details,
plus the recent appearances of Pac-Man aren't enough for you believe that
he can get into fights with Nintendo mascots,
again,
I tell you, never doubt the capacity of adapting a character for fighting games,
especially when we're dealing with Smash Bros. team,
that turns any character, fighter or not,
in a champion of the arenas.
And this was my 5 favorites to enter for the warm and fun fights of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS...
I hope you enjoyed the compilation,
