I think the relationship between the city and the Hamptons is special because it’s
unique. The city has a real lack of space, the Hamptons has a lot of space and it’s
very special space. They’re relatively close proximity wise and very accessible. You can
easily drive there, and then you’ve got the jitney that gets you there really quickly.
Then you have this ability to use it all year round; people started thinking of the Hamptons,
at least I did when I bought my first home, as just a summer place. Then you realize that
the summer is the most crowded time of the year, and that it’s beautiful in May and
September when the crowds aren’t there. May, June and September are probably the most
beautiful months, and spring is magnificent when the Magnolias blooms and you turn the
corner and the tree is just in perfect bloom; you’ve seen something that you’re witnessing
and it’s just never going to be as perfect as today. So people start realizing that,
they start coming out more, they start using it all year round. Holidays are beautiful,
Christmastime is magical, the towns are special all year round, and also we have now that
that didn’t have when I started my weekend home the ability to work virtual. So people
are coming out and they’re spending an extra day, extending their weekends, and not having
to deal with the Friday night and the Sunday night traffic so it’s kind of perfect.
