Hi I'm Robert Tosh and I'm currently living in Glasgow.
I'm doing a technical support apprenticeship with BAE Systems maritime and naval ships.
BAE Systems is a global defence company,
my department specialises in combat systems and bt systems
through their life cycle from design
all the way to implementation. I came straight in the company from
my old school, Govan High School.
First year doing my HNC. I then moved on to my second year and went round various departments. I was then
allocated the role of lead engineer for additional fit monetary tasking equipment
and I've been doing that ever since.
Apprentices generally bring a new lease of life to an organisation
they bring new ideas. You gain confidence and you gain team working but
most importantly you gain communication .
I'm an ambassador for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. I was the first apprentice
ever to achieve sea rider certification for the global maritime distress and
safety system so I was gaining
recognised, nationally recognised qualifications.
He's been an absolute
model apprentice and I see him having
a big bright future in BAE Systems. I'll be looking for him to be excelling
in years to come
and don't forget his old training officer.
The work itself is really interesting
it really propels you forward as a person. Just to
see a system working
something that you've work on, putting blood and sweat into so to speak,
that's the highest point .
