After you've recorded your video, it's time to polish it up and get ready to share it
with your world.
There are a lot of edits you can make to your video, but if you're new, just remember to
keep simple and focused. Doing to much will complicate the creation process and distract
from getting your video finished.
Now that you're in editing mode, it's time to pick a final size for editing and producing
your video. Ideally, the size you pick will match the size requirements for your hosting
site. This will be something like Youtube or your companies website. Make sure you direct
focus to the most visually relevant parts of the video... Be a show off and make the
important parts stand out.
Good videos cut out anything that isn't essential and you should too. As you make cuts, transitions
can help your viewers get from one clip to the next. Use transitions sparingly though.
And use really flashy ones almost never.
As you finish the editing of your video, check the audio levels. No one likes having their
ears blasted by a video that's too loud. Check your audio through both speakers and headphones,
and adjust the levels accordingly. If you're using music make sure it fits the tone of
your video, you probably don't want disco music. Do make sure it's just loud enough
to be heard and not be mistake for background noise, but not so loud that it interferes
with the narration.
At the end of the video include a specific call to action. Ask yourself -- what do you
want your viewers to do once they finish the video? Watch another one? Download a product
or take a quiz? Go to your web store to buy something?
To complete your video you need to produce or export it before you post it online. Most
tools include default productions settings that will work well for a majority of your
needs.
