Initially the project was born from milk.
Why did you choose to use Donkey Milk ?
I discovered Donkey Milk thanks to a breeder in South Of France
who had his own soap factory.
I tried out the product by myself. I found out it was really interesting
because it was very smooth and soft, fitting every kind of skin.
And donkey milk could be used as therapy for skin issues
but also to prevent them,
especially for babies and children.
Besides, back to 2005-2006,
cosmetics handmade from donkey milk were quite rare,
and almost didn't exist at all for baby care.
Why did you create a woman range ?
the women range seemed legitimate
first because of the whole History
around Cleopatra donkey milk baths,
and second because it was meant to be used by mothers for their kids
So, we created a small offer for women which also has
a reason why in the entire range of Câlinesse.
And both of them were successful quite fast,
because of their specific smells,
because of those textures so smooth and soft,
which were higly tolerated by sensitive skins.
In the end, we succeeded to offer a new cosmetic range which had
a bit different smell, texture,
and this thanks to donkey milk efficiency and properties.
Your biggest surprise...
My biggest and most beautiful surprise was to notice
I could actually sell Câlinesse, a French-sounding brand,
in countries like South Korea, China or Russia...
Countries which didn't know this kind of brand.
Yet, they enjoyed a homemade French concept only based on my inspiration.
When you create your own brand, it is really valuable to see
that people like it and that it is doing some good.
Actually, a lot of stories from mums
regarding their children skin issues moved me
because we were able to heal and fix skin problems
I had not even though about when I had founded the brand.
Any future project on your mind ?
Thanks to the woman range we had the great opportunity
to be part of The Festival de Cannes in 2011. We worked with Cinema
and since Cleopatra History was also related to movies
We had the idea of a new range around the Seventh Art.
And the range should actually be called 7th Art,
with an ambassador, who is an actress.
Actually, the range will be in our different stores,
on a national and an international scale,
with a specific mention for
the address of 69 Rue D'Argout at The Beauty Lounge
where we have our own rituals
on the first floor of the shop,
and also in Mademoiselle Bio shop
where we have a massage room entirely dedicated to Câlinesse rituals.
So these new products could soon be found
in those two locations, in Paris.
the name of Câlinesse, is a mixing between câlin (hug) and ânesse (donkey).
That's what we can understand when reading the name.
Well, it is quite simple, in fact I found it while I was in my shower and I thought
"Oh, this is funny because câlin and ânesse both have a circumflex accent on the a..."
So the word câlinesse just crossed my mind.
Basically, that's it.
That's how I found it, while I was using the donkey milk soap.
