Hello this is Ron Broussard and this STRETCH YOURSELF Business Series is about Networking
with Intention and I'm going to give you five ways to get more out of your Networking Experience.
Networking events are growing and I know people spend time and money attending networking
events to generate business for the company. And I've had many people ask me, how can I
better manage my time and network with intention?
First of all, don't give up. Networking done right can reap benefits if you do it with
intention, not just collecting cards for your database or getting recognition for your brand
because the bottom line is you want to generate business right?
So how do you network with intention?
First, develop a pitch that explains the value that the prospective client will receive;
For example: Hi I'm Ron Broussard. Did you know that most
business lose clients because their brand simply doesn't communicate the value they
bring to their customers? If your brand is not being communicated clearly and consistently
you could be missing out. As a relational expert, my specialty is helping business owners
create a relational experience through their brand that reflects the value their company
brings. Let's talk about how brand consistency can grow your bottom line.
Big difference from where you talk all about you and not talk about the VALUE they will
benefit from you.
Second; Profitability. If the event is not attracting your target market or audience,
then don't attend.
Third; Treat the events as Connecting events. Network to make new connections, and those
new connections can turn into JV partners or refer your business to other clients.
Lastly Request more business cards than you give out. Of course if someone asks for your
card give it, but when you request someone's card, you are in control of the follow up.
Send follow up emails within 24 - 48 hours even if it is a short note with something
specific that you discussed with them - and connect through social media to stay connected.
Lastly; GO Alone. I know this may sound weird but, if you go with a friend, you'll find
yourself talking ABOUT everyone instead of talking TO them. So go alone and make a point
to introduce yourself to at least 3 - 5 attendees. Something may come from the intros and something
may not, bottom line is you may walk away with information or a resource that you didn't
have if you didn't put yourself out there.
Thanks for watching. I hope this will help you STRETCH your networking endeavors with
intentions on the end result of the relationships you want to create in your business, and I
look forward to connecting with you soon.
