Ever since I was a little boy, I've always been surrounded by ships.
My grandfather first, and my father, were naval architects,
So I grew up with a passion for ships in my blood.
So it was natural for me to become a naval architect,
and here at MIT Sea Grant I am taking my expertise to the next level
developing new concept designs for high-performance ships
and related numerical tools for their optimization.
We are developing the next generation of autonomous surface vehicles,
that are meant to explore large areas of the ocean.
I have this amazing team of research engineers and students.
We work together very well, because each one of us specializes
in a different field of ocean engineering and we do share the same passion
to bring innovation in whatever we do, and that's our strength.
My name is Stefano Brizzolara,
and I'm the Assistant Director for Research at MIT Sea Grant.
